Top Gun: Maverick’s Joseph Kosinski & Jerry Bruckheimer Team for UFO Conspiracy Movie

Filmmaker Joseph Kosinski, previously collaborated with producer Jerry Bruckheimer, is teaming up again for a fresh take on the genre of mystery and suspense centered around Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, several major studios such as Amazon, Apple, Lionsgate, Paramount, and Warner Bros. have shown interest in the highly sought-after project by Kosinski and Bruckheimer. This project has sparked a competitive bidding war that’s been described as progressing rapidly and intensely.

What is the Joseph Kosinski & Jerry Bruckheimer movie about?

The film by Kosinski and Bruckheimer, often referred to as “All the President’s Men with an extraterrestrial twist,” is in search of a studio willing to give it the go-ahead. At this point, neither the budget nor any leading actors have been set.

Enclosed is the screenplay by Zach Baylin, who was nominated for an Academy Award for his work on 2021’s King Richard. He has also written Creed III, Gran Turismo, and The Order.

Consultant David Grusch, formerly an Air Force officer, is involved with the current project. In 2023, Grusch emerged as a whistleblower and presented testimony to Congress, alleging that the government has been investigating UFOs and extraterrestrial life while keeping such findings hidden from the public.

In 2022, Kosinski and Bruckheimer teamed up to create Top Gun: Maverick, the follow-up to the 1986 film Top Gun. Tom Cruise played Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, a veteran pilot tasked with training a new group of candidates for a classified assignment. Launched in May 2022, Maverick took the world by storm, earning over $1.4 billion and garnering six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture.

This upcoming summer, I’m all set for an adrenaline-pumping ride as Kosinski and Bruckheimer aim to replicate the magic of Maverick with F1. As a gamer, I can’t wait to dive into this world directed by Kosinski and produced by Bruckheimer. F1 revolves around me, Brad Pitt’s character Sonny Hayes, an ex-Formula One driver who’s been brought back to race again and guide the promising rookie Damson Idris of the Apex Grand Prix team.

F1 races into theaters on June 27, 2025.
