Sadly, flight instructor and aerospace engineer Chuck Coleman, known for his work on the film Top Gun: Maverick, passed away in an airplane accident, causing deep sadness among his loved ones. After Coleman’s demise, Miles Teller, his friend and actor who portrayed Bradley Bradshaw in the movie, shared a heartfelt tribute on social media.

Sadly, flight instructor Chuck Coleman met a fatal accident on October 20th at Las Cruces International Airport, New Mexico. While engaged in the 2024 Las Cruces Air and Space Expo, an unfortunate incident occurred, causing him to crash during a plane ride, ultimately resulting in his premature demise.

Miles Teller, who collaborated closely with the flight instructor on the film ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, paid tribute to Chuck Coleman through a heartfelt post (on what was previously known as Twitter). In his words, “Farewell Chuck Coleman. Not only was he our aerobatics instructor for Top Gun: Maverick, but he played an essential role in our film’s preparation. He was an accomplished aerospace engineer, air show and test pilot, and we were fortunate to call him both a friend and partner.

The actor continued to praise Coleman’s character, describing him as “warm-hearted, modest, and inquisitive.” He also mentioned that although he passed away too early, his impact will last eternally. Thank you for the memories, Chuck.

In a post on their Facebook page, Las Cruces City officials revealed that an accident occurred approximately at 2:30 p.m., and local law enforcement and aviation authorities are currently investigating the crash site. They also requested anyone who may have captured photos or videos of the incident to submit them to the National Transportation Safety Board for further analysis.

Mayor Eric Enriquez of Las Cruces shared his sentiments regarding a recent event, stating, “Regrettably, we had a fatal conclusion to our Air and Space Expo over the weekend. During Sunday’s performance, there was an aircraft accident that claimed the life of pilot Charles T. ‘Chuck’ Coleman. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and admirers of Chuck Coleman.

Reportedly, Coleman had over 10,000 hours of flight time to his name.
