"Tonight it comes to life" – Are Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and JJ Abrams teaming up for new super hero movie?

As a die-hard fan who’s been through the rollercoaster that is The Rock’s DC ventures, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation upon hearing about his latest project with JJ Abrams and Zak Penn. After the less-than-impressive debut of Black Adam, it’s understandable to approach this news with a grain of salt. However, The Rock’s resilience and determination are legendary, much like the Hulk that Penn has crafted stories for in the past.

Approximately two years past, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson announced an impending shift in the power structure within the DC universe upon the debut of Black Adam. However, since then, there seems to be a pause or delay in its release.

The film didn’t live up to the hype, leaving both comic book enthusiasts and regular viewers underwhelmed by the introduction of the antihero. As a result, the DC Extended Universe suffered another box office disappointment.

However, quitting isn’t one of the former wrestler’s strengths, so he now
teased an upcoming project with none other than JJ Abrams and Zak Penn.

He posted a photo of a dinner with them on Instagram with the caption:

Years in the making – we finally broke bread, we drank, we laughed, got a lil’ drunk (maybe that was just me ) we talked life stuff, love stuff, dude stuff and took our time chopping up our passion for movies and storytelling. Then we all raised a glass and toasted to…. yup, this one is gonna be fun. JJ & DJ from the mind of Zak Penn.

“…tonight, it comes to life…”

Despite appearing mysterious and ambiguous, fans swiftly formed their opinions, conjecturing about a potential new superhero movie endeavor. This isn’t mere optimism, as Penn is renowned not just for X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand, but also for co-writing The Avengers and the 2008 Incredible Hulk film.

JJ Abrams, much like The Rock following Black Adam, may be taking a break to heal after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, as he’s known for his grand productions.

What’s your opinion on The Rock trying to become the lead character in another superhero film? It seems like he has the potential to solve that puzzle, doesn’t it?
