Tombstone: Who Is Lonnie Lincoln in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man?

Fans are keen to uncover the backstory of Lonnie Lincoln, voiced by Eugene Byrd within “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man“. In the show, Lonnie presents as an ordinary high school student sharing classes with Peter Parker and living a normal life. Yet, in the comics he’s known as the supervillain Tombstone (Alonzo Lincoln). The series seems to be deviating from his original storyline, taking creative liberties and incorporating elements from the comics while altering some aspects of his origin.

Here’s all you need to know about how the Lonnie in the MCU differs from comics.

Marvel’s Lonnie Lincoln / Tombstone from Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man explained

At the start of the show, we meet Lonnie Lincoln, a dedicated student and athlete who attends the same university as our friendly neighborhood Spiderman. Balancing his academic pursuits, sports participation, and family duties keeps him quite busy.

Drawing upon my diligent and resilient spirit, I excel in academics and maintain an impressive streak as a quarterback, consistently clinching victories. Initially, I’m seen as a contender with Peter Parker for Pearl’s affection. Yet, it isn’t long before my admirable character captures her heart too.

In a striking contrast, the animated version of Lonnie Lincoln deviates significantly from his comic book character, who was often isolated because of his albinism, a condition that fundamentally changes one’s physical appearance due to birth.

Despite the series portraying him as a healthy and intelligent child without mentioning albinism, in the comic books, his unique appearance led to him being ostracized. This later fueled his villainous tendencies, where he used to torment fellow students, acting as a bully during his early years.

Consequently, he swiftly earns the nickname “Tombstone,” and as a child, he transitions into a muscle for the mafia. Maintaining his sinister demeanor, he also begins collaborating with infamous characters such as Wilson Fisk, better known as Kingpin, Dmitri Kravinoff, alias Chameleon, among others.

Originally, he was an ordinary person living with a birth defect. However, following a unique mutagenic incident, his abilities transformed dramatically. He developed extraordinary physical strength, mastered unarmed combat techniques, improved reflexes, endurance, and durability, among other enhancements.
