Tomb Raider Season 2 Gets First Photo, Showrunner Teases Netflix Return

As a seasoned gamer with decades of Tomb Raider adventures under my belt, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the renewal of Netflix’s Tomb Raider animated series for Season 2! Lara Croft has always been a character close to my heart, and watching her journey unfold in this new format has been an absolute joy.

After making its debut two weeks past, Netflix has officially greenlit a second season for their recently launched animated series titled Tomb Raider, which is based on the popular adventure video game franchise by Square Enix. The announcement of the second season was accompanied by the release of the first Season 2 image showcasing Hayley Atwell as Lara Croft and Karen Fukuhara as Sam Nishimura.

As I, an avid gamer, embark on my latest quest, Lara Croft, it’s me uncovering a trail of pilfered African Orisha masks. Partnering up with my trusted confidant Sam, we’re on a mission to reclaim these priceless artifacts. The journey leads me across continents as I unearth the enigmatic past of the Orishas, dodge the cunning plots of a billionaire villainess who covets the masks for her own ends, and unravel mysteries that challenge the boundaries of logic. It seems these relics harbor secrets so dark they border on the divine.

Showrunner on What’s Next for Tomb Raider Season 2

After its refresh, Tomb Raider’s showrunner Tasha Huo hinted at what lies ahead for Lara Croft in the upcoming installment, as she gradually gathers her team.

As a gamer, diving into Season 1, it’s all about my character Lara grappling with the solitary approach her dad used to cope with loss. At first, she’s deeply secluded, much like a solo player in a game. But as we progress through Season 2, the focus shifts towards forming a squad for Lara. From being a lone wolf, she learns to appreciate the support of an amazing team, transforming from a solitary hero into someone who realizes her strength lies not just in herself but in those around her.

Titled “Tomb Raider: Lara Croft’s Legend,” this show is penned and overseen by Tasha Huo (creator of “The Witcher: Blood Origin” and “Red Sonja”). It boasts the vocal talents of Allen Maldonado as Zip, Earl Baylon as Jonah, Richard Armitage as Charles, Zoe Boyle as Camilla, Nolan North as Conrad, Ming-Na Wen as Eva, among others. Powerhouse Animation handles the animation, with Legendary Television serving as producers.
