As a long-time fan of both Spider-Man and Venom, I can’t help but feel my heart race at the prospect of Tom Hardy’s Venom squaring off against Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Having grown up watching the web-slinger on the big screen, and then witnessing the incredible transformation of Venom into a gritty, intense anti-hero in Hardy’s hands, it would be nothing short of a dream come true to see these two iconic characters finally collide.
Tom Hardy expresses his preference for a specific Spider-Man character to confront Venom in a potential future collaboration. During an interview at the New York Comic Con while promoting his upcoming movie “Venom: The Last Dance,” Hardy was asked about this possible crossover. As of now, there are no definitive plans set for this crossover, but Hardy revealed which Spider-Man he’d like Venom to engage in battle with.
Tom Hardy wants Venom to battle Tom Holland’s Spider-Man next
Tom Hardy, who plays Venom, has shared that he’d love for Venom to battle Spider-Man, particularly the portrayal of Spidey by Tom Holland.
During the New York Comic Con panel for “Venom: The Last Dance”, Tom Hardy expressed his desire to face off against Spider-Man, stating, “I’d love to fight him right now! I’m ready to battle Spider-Man today, one hundred percent.” When asked who he would prefer Venom to fight among the Spider-Men, Hardy confidently chose Tom Holland. (Paraphrased from Comicbook.com)
Hardy’s curiosity about a crossover arises because Venom made a quick appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home. In the movie, Eddie Brock was momentarily drawn into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although he didn’t interact with any of the three Spider-Men (Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, or Andrew Garfield), Venom’s presence suggested a possible confrontation in the future.

The actor also admitted that the intricate business challenges involved in a possible Spider-Man and Venom collaboration call for a higher degree of diplomacy and smart negotiations, suggesting a need for discussions at a high level. Nevertheless, he remains hopeful about the prospect, pointing out that it would necessitate both production companies agreeing on terms.
In the final installment of the Venom trilogy, titled “Venom: The Last Dance,” Eddie Brock and his symbiote partner Venom find themselves pursued by terrestrial forces as well as Knull, the deity associated with symbiotes. Directed by Kelly Marcel, this upcoming film features Tom Hardy alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, and Rhys Ifans. “Venom: The Last Dance” is set to hit theaters on October 25, 2024.
