Ana de Armas appears to be attached to star in Deeper alongside Tom Cruise.
A fresh horror film titled “Deeper” is currently being helmed by director Doug Liman. This production has been under development for close to a decade; initially, MGM planned to release it back in 2016.
As reported by Deadline, Armas has signed on to work alongside Cruise in the movie titled “Deeper”. The report mentions that they have been spotted together lately, and it’s said that they are both undergoing the scuba diving training necessary for this project.
What else do we know about Deeper?
According to Deadline, Deeper is about an astronaut who faces a frightening entity during a daring exploration of a previously unexplored trench.
Approximately $200 million is the projected budget for this project. Originally penned by Max Landis, various actors like Bradley Cooper and Idris Elba have been linked to it over time. Moreover, Kornél Mundruczó and Baltasar Kormákur were once connected as potential directors for the film.
Although it’s unclear by exactly how much the script has evolved throughout the years, it’s now being reported that Christopher McQuarrie from Mission: Impossible is contributing to the film’s screenplay.
According to an article on Deadline, Tom Cruise, along with Liman and McQuarrie, intend to collaborate with NASA and SpaceX to produce a narrative film in space. However, it’s said that before this project, Cruise may want to work on [Deeper] next. The question isn’t if he will make it, but where he chooses to create it.
In a few days, Tom Cruise is set to return as Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible – The Last Stand, premiering in U.S. cinemas on May 23, 2025, distributed by Paramount Pictures.
In the meantime, De Armas is set to play Eve Macarro in the upcoming John Wick spin-off film titled Ballerina. This movie also features Keanu Reeves and is scheduled for release in U.S. theaters on June 6, 2025, by Lionsgate.
