As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for horror movies and a soft spot for the Jigsaw series, I must admit my heart skipped a beat when I heard Tobin Bell is returning as John Kramer in Saw XI. With nine films under his belt and a tenth, Saw X, that was a return to form for the franchise, I’m eagerly anticipating another round of intricate traps, moral dilemmas, and the ever-cunning Jigsaw.
Jigsaw is set to reappear in the upcoming film titled Saw XI. In a recent conversation with the Los Angeles Times, Tobin Bell shared his intentions to portray John Kramer once more in Saw XI.
Bell expressed great enthusiasm about further nurturing him, stating, “John Kramer’s story isn’t over yet; there’s still much to discover.
In nine out of ten Saw movies, Bell’s character, Kramer, has made an appearance, with his latest role seen in 2023’s Saw X. The storyline for this installment takes place between the events of Saw and Saw 2. During this time, ailing Kramer travels to Mexico seeking an experimental surgery that could potentially cure his terminal cancer. Unfortunately, it turns out the procedure was a sham. In retaliation, Kramer abducts those responsible and subjects them to deadly traps instead.
The latest installment featuring X marked a comeback for the horror series, raking in an impressive $111 million against a production cost of just $13 million. Kramer attributes the success to the intricate storylines found in the scripts.
According to Bell, it’s not just about who’s doing the writing, but rather the writing itself that matters. It’s not merely a single person standing outside the door with a sidelight on them.
Who is Involved in Saw XI Besides Tobin Bell?
As a die-hard fan, I can’t contain my excitement when I heard that Lionsgate was planning to release Saw XI in theaters! The announcement came in December 2023, and the studio has set the release date for this highly anticipated sequel on September 27, 2024. I can hardly wait!
It’s announced that Kevin Greutert, the director of previous Saw films, will be back to direct Saw XI. The screenplay for Saw XI is being penned by Marcus Dunstan, who has collaborated on five Saw movies before this. Oren Koules and Mark Burg are set as producers for this upcoming installment in the series.
The specifics of the storyline are being kept secret. Only one actor from past Saw movies has verified his return. When Saw XI is released, it will be exactly 21 years since the original Saw premiered in 2004.
In April, Lionsgate shifted the release of Saw XI from September 27, 2024, to September 26, 2025.
