Tiger Woods Biopic Set at Amazon MGM Studios

It’s been verified that Amazon Studios, along with MGM, plans to create a movie based on the life of Tiger Woods. Reports indicate that Higher Ground Productions, led by Barack and Michelle Obama, are currently discussing their involvement in the project.

The movie is planned to be adapted from Kevin Cook’s book titled “The Tiger Slam: The Inside Story of the Greatest Golf Ever Played,” which tells the life story of a child golf prodigy who eventually becomes a global star. Reinaldo Marcus Green, the director behind “King Richard, is expected to direct this biographical drama as well. The film is likely to draw inspiration from several key themes in the book. Primarily focusing on Woods’ historic four consecutive major championships, known as the “Tiger Slam,” the movie will also delve into his professional debut at 20 in 1996 and his rise to fame, becoming one of the most recognized golfers globally. With a career boasting 15 major championship wins and 82 victories on the PGA Tour, Woods is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest players in golf history.

2009 saw Tiger Woods becoming a media sensation off the golf course, due to his personal scandal involving extramarital affairs which strained relationships with businesses such as Accenture, AT&T, Gatorade, and General Motors. The film will not delve into these personal issues, instead choosing to focus on Woods’ career as a golfer. Additionally, he was arrested for driving under the influence in 2017 and suffered severe injuries from a car accident in 2021 that required him to take a break from golf. However, Woods returned to the sport and triumphed at the 2019 Masters, marking his first major win in eleven years.

Previously, documentaries about Tiger Woods have included one called “Tiger” on HBO, which was a two-part series in 2021. At this point, Amazon MGM’s schedule for releasing the Tiger Woods biopic is unknown, and it hasn’t been announced when it will be released.
