Florence Pugh is opening up about some of the stunt work she did while filming Thunderbolts*.
In the upcoming month, the Marvel Cinematic Universe film titled Thunderbolts is set to hit American movie theaters. The star-studded cast includes Florence Pugh playing Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan reprising his role as Bucky Barnes, Wyatt Russell portraying John Walker/U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, Lewis Pullman taking on Bob/Sentry, Geraldine Viswanathan as Mel, David Harbour starring as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen embodying Ava Starr/Ghost, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus portraying Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
What did Florence Pugh say about jumping off the second-tallest building in the world while filming Thunderbolts*?
During an interview with Fandango’s Mark Ellis, the Thunderbolts* cast were inquired about who faced the most difficulty executing the stunts during the movie’s production.
According to Pugh, she responded to every email. This was because it was part of the plan initially, but as they neared filming, they suggested that it might not work out due to a complex insurance issue and potentially dangerous stunts. However, Pugh insisted, “We have to do this!” So, she took on a bold stance, sending emails to Kevin [Feige], arguing that it would boost the publicity tour if they went ahead with the plan.
‘If you wish to leap from the second-tallest building on earth, we’ll find a way.’ Heights don’t scare me, in fact, I appreciate them, but this was an entirely new challenge. It was utterly insane. The mental fortitude required today felt like a supernatural ability.
The second tallest structure globally is the Merdeka 118 in Malaysia, reaching about 678.9 meters or 2,227 feet in height. A video demonstrating Pugh’s daring stunt, now available for viewing, was recently shared by Marvel. (You can watch it below.)
Thunderbolts* will be released in United States theaters on May 2, 2025.
