The final runtime for Marvel Studios‘ Thunderbolts* has been officially revealed.
What is the runtime for Thunderbolts*?
As stated on Regal’s website, the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film rated PG-13 will run for approximately two hours and six minutes, which equates to 126 minutes. This runtime is consistent with the standard of the superhero franchise, as the majority of its cinematic releases usually last around two hours. For example, the running time for Deadpool & Wolverine from last year was two hours and eight minutes, while Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania from 2023 clocked in at 2 hours and five minutes, and Captain America 4, scheduled for release in 2025, is expected to run for 118 minutes.
Under the guidance of director Jake Schreier, Thunderbolts is slated to be the concluding film in Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Although specifics about the plot are still kept confidential, this movie promises to bring together beloved anti-heroes from various MCU stories, who find themselves trapped in a deadly scenario orchestrated by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. The character will be portrayed once again by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, a well-known figure within the Marvel universe.
In unity, these disenchanted outcasts are compelled to undertake a perilous journey that will make them face the deepest recesses of their pasts. Will this troubled team fracture under pressure or discover salvation and bond as something stronger than themselves before it’s all over? This sums up the plot for the MCU film.
The group, made up of Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, David Harbour’s Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell’s John Walker/U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko’s Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, Hannah John-Kamen’s Ava Starr/Ghost, and Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes, must also prevent Lewis Pullman’s Sentry, whose malevolent alter ego The Void poses a threat to the destruction of New York City.
As a hardcore Marvel fan, I’ve got some exciting news to share! The thunderous Thunderbolts* won’t make their final appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe just yet. Five out of six members of this iconic team have been officially confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday. That’s right, you’ll be seeing Pugh, Harbour, John-Kamen, Russell, and Stan back in action, along with Pullman. Production on this highly anticipated film is currently underway, with the Russo Brothers at the helm!
It appears that during the historic live stream revealing the cast for Doomsday, Olga Kurylenko was the sole significant Thunderbolts actor who wasn’t unveiled. This has fueled speculation among fans that their long-held theory regarding Taskmaster might indeed be accurate.
Thunderbolts* is scheduled to hit theaters on May 2, 2025.
