As a dedicated gamer, I’ve noticed that a beloved Thunderbolts character, whose death is allegedly on the cards, appears to be missing from a recent video snippet.
In U.S. cinemas next May, the Marvel Cinematic Universe film “Thunderbolts” will debut, directed by Jake Schreier. The star-studded cast includes Florence Pugh portraying Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, and Lewis Pullman in the role of Bob/Sentry.
Who has been removed from a scene in the new Thunderbolts* video?
Marvel Studios has unveiled a fresh, brief teaser for The Thunderbolts*, and according to the X account Cosmic Marvel, there seems to be a change: Taskmaster is missing from a scene where she was initially visible in an earlier trailer.

It seems plausible that these two shots are from distinct parts of the movie or were taken at different stages of production. However, it’s more probable that the scene with Taskmaster is a ‘bullshot’, which implies it was initially included but might not be in the final version of the film. Yet, this assumption remains unconfirmed by Marvel Studios, so fans must wait for the movie’s release to discover the truth.
Despite several whispers implying otherwise, it seems possible that Taskmaster might not survive his Thunderbolts* experience due to his minimal presence in promotional content.
Earlier this week, the eagerly anticipated cast announcement for The Avengers: Doomsday only served to fan the flames of speculation within the gaming community like me. It’s been revealed that Pugh, Stan, Harbour, Russell, Pullman, and Pierce will all be joining the 2026 movie lineup. However, curiously, Kurylenko’s name seems conspicuously absent from the roster.
As a gamer, I’d put it like this: “I’m part of the Thunderbolts team alongside Geraldine Viswanathan, Wendell Edward Pierce, Chris Bauer, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. The storyline centers around Valentina, played by Louis-Dreyfus, forcibly conscripting Bucky, Alexei, Yelena, Ghost, Taskmaster, and U.S. Agent for a perilous mission.
Thunderbolts* will be released in United States theaters on May 2, 2025.
