As a dedicated Marvel fan who’s been through the rollercoaster of emotions since the early days of Iron Man, I can hardly contain my excitement upon seeing Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova grace the screen at Disney’s D23 presentation. Three years after her introduction in Black Widow and her gripping performance in Hawkeye, it seems our beloved sister-avenger is back for another round!
At Disney’s D23 event, a sneak peek of Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts was unveiled, featuring Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film. The movie is scheduled for release on May 2, 2025.
The forthcoming Thunderbolts film will be the third time Florence Pugh portrays Yelena Belova within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following a three-year interval since her debut as Natasha Romanoff’s adopted younger sister in the Black Widow movie starring Scarlett Johansson. Subsequently, she made recurrent appearances in Disney+’s Hawkeye series, aiming to avenge her sister’s demise in Avengers: Endgame by attempting to assassinate Clint Barton, aka the titular Avenger, portrayed by Jeremy Renner.
