In the movie Thunderbolts, Marvel Studios brings together an unusual gang of anti-heroes consisting of Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes (also known as the Winter Soldier), Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster, and John Walker. According to the official summary, they are drawn into a deadly trap set by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. As they grapple with their troubled pasts on a perilous mission, these disenchanted outcasts must decide if they will tear each other apart or find redemption and become something greater before it’s too late.

Thunderbolts is a project developed under the guidance of Kevin Feige, with Louis D’Esposito, Brian Chapek, and Jason Tamez serving as executive producers. The script for this production was penned by Eric Pearson and Joanna Calo, who also came up with the original story concept based on Pearson’s idea.

In contrast to Taskmaster from the 2021 Black Widow film not featuring in Avengers: Doomsday, Lashana Lynch’s Ghost will join Florence Pugh, Tim Roth, Julian Hilliard, Michael Stuhlbarg, and David Harbour instead. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Doomsday is set to premiere in theaters on May 1, 2026. The subsequent film, titled Avengers: Secret Wars, follows on May 7, 2027.
