Thug Life: Shruti Haasan lends vocals for Kamal Haasan’s gangster drama after 16 years

The upcoming Tamil blockbuster, Thug Life, directed by Mani Ratnam, is garnering a lot of attention. This eagerly awaited action-thriller will premiere on the big screens on June 5th. With Kamal Haasan leading the cast, there’s been a flurry of promotional activities surrounding the film. A fascinating detail about its soundtrack has recently spread online.

In a conversation with Behindwoods, AR Rahman teamed up with the Thug Life collective, which includes Kamal Haasan among others. He verified that Shruti Haasan, the actress from Nayakan, provided her voice for one of the tunes in the project.

As a lifestyle expert, I must share with you that one truly captivating moment in the movie was when Shruti lent her voice to the enchanting melody “Vinveli Nayakan.” Interestingly enough, this song was beautifully depicted with none other than Kamal Haasan himself taking center stage.

For those unfamiliar, it’s been 16 years since Shruti last sang for a movie produced by her father, Kamal Haasan. The last time she did so was in 2009, for the film “Unnaipol Oruvan”.

Returning to the subject of Thug Life, this Tamil action-thriller possesses a profound emotional center and delves into a narrative revolving around vengeance and atonement within a complex father-son relationship. Apart from Kamal Haasan, the film features Silambarasan TR, Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, and others in key roles.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, let me share my perspective: I couldn’t help but be captivated by the radiant presence of Bollywood actress Sanya Malhotra in that recent film. The first single, Jinguchaa, was nothing short of spellbinding, and Sanya truly outdid herself. Her dance moves, perfectly synchronized with every beat, made the wedding anthem a sensation among music lovers like myself.

Lately, the creators have revealed another track from the movie called “Sugar Baby,” focusing on the captivating character of Trisha Krishnan. She was stunningly beautiful in her glitzy portrayal.

In a new venture, Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam team up once more, following their work together in the 1987 movie “Nayakan.” AR Rahman contributes to the film’s music, while it is being produced by Raaj Kamal Films International.

This fast-paced, exciting movie spans a duration of 165 minutes in total. The censor board has made minimal adjustments, replacing just two strong language instances. The grand premiere of the film’s soundtrack is set for May 24th.

Thug Life will be available on the OTT platform Netflix eight weeks after its theatrical release.
