The film “Thug Life” has had a promising debut in cinemas, having been released on June 5th. Advance ticket sales were favorable not only in Tamil Nadu and other southern regions but also in North India, suggesting strong initial box office revenues.
In important roles were actors such as Kamal Haasan, Trisha Krishnan, Silambarasan TR, among others, in this film directed by Mani Ratnam. Prior to its official premiere, a pre-screening event was held for the movie.
Thug Life cast attends pre-release screening
On her Instagram stories, Trisha Krishnan posted a picture featuring herself along with the cast and crew from Thug Life, which also includes Kamal Haasan. Prior to its premiere in movie theaters and multiplexes, they all attended a pre-screening event for this action thriller.
The team appeared comfortable and carefree as they gathered for a group photo, which included Trisha, KH, Joju George, Ashok Selvan, Abhirami, and several others.
Thug Life bags early morning shows in Tamil Nadu
Prior to its launch, the government of Tamil Nadu granted permission for Thug Life to hold exclusive shows within the state. Consequently, a grand total of five shows were approved, with screenings taking place from 9 AM up until 2 AM the following day.
Viewers’ eagerness to see the much-anticipated movie has led to a surge in theater attendance, broadening the film’s overall reception.
Thug Life Karnataka controversy
In other news, the Mani Ratnam action thriller has faced a ban in the state of Karnataka.
After a remark by Kamal Haasan seemed to offend the feelings of Kannada speakers, they asked for an instant apology from him to avoid a potential ban on his movie.
On the other hand, the actor declined to offer an apology and instead sought judicial intervention at the High Court, advocating for a friendly conversation with the KFCC to clarify the confusion. Until this dialogue occurs, the movie will not be shown anywhere in Karnataka and is currently prohibited in the state.
