Thug Life Bookings: Tamil Government gives permission for special shows, last to end at 2 AM

Mani Ratnam’s film “Thug Life” sparked debate when it was prohibited from showing in all of Karnataka, following a comment made by Kamal Haasan during the film’s pre-release event that offended the feelings of those who speak Kannada.

With only one day remaining before its release, the film has been given approval for exclusive screenings in Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu government allows special morning shows for Thug Life

According to the most recent decree from the Tamil Nadu government, they’ve given approval for a total of five unique programs to be broadcast during the early hours, starting at 9 AM, and running all the way until 2 AM the following day.

The change was implemented following a specific demand made by the CEO of Raaj Kamal Films International, who oversees the film’s production.

The decision has added even more anticipation among viewers, eagerly waiting to catch the gangster action-thriller unfold on the cinema screens.

Kamal Haasan agreed to stall Thug Life’s screening in Karnataka

Following the KFCC ban, Kamal Haasan sought recourse at the High Court, asking for fair consideration and protection of his safety. In addition, he formally expressed in writing that his words had been misconstrued.

Consequently, the senior Tamil actor concurred and declared that his movie would not be shown in its entirety across Karnataka until they had discussed and resolved their disagreements with the relevant parties.

This statement, it seems, caught many off guard, leading some to view it as diminishing the stature of another ancient language.
