As a die-hard fan of Suriya, I can’t help but feel a tinge of remorse and a pinch of frustration when I think about his missed opportunity to be a part of SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus, Baahubali. Imagine the magic that would have been created if this Tamil sensation had graced the screen alongside Prabhas!
The epic movie Baahubali, directed by SS Rajamouli and featuring Prabhas in a pivotal role, broke box office records and left a lasting impression on Indian cinema. Released in two parts over two years, it found a special spot among viewers. Interestingly, another big-name actor, Suriya, was initially offered a role in the film but he declined the offer.
Reportedly, renowned Tamil actor Suriya was invited to play a significant role in director SS Rajamouli’s epic film, Baahubali. However, according to News18, despite Rajamouli expressing interest in having Suriya join the project, the actor declined due to dissatisfaction with the character description he had been presented.
Despite initially turning down the opportunity, Suriya later openly admitted his remorse for declining such a grand project from renowned director SS Rajamouli, a collaboration many artists and actors aspire to have.
Regarding the same topic, Suriya admitted, “Life presents us with errors, and I’m no exception. I overlooked a major chance to collaborate with Rajamouli on a project. However, I’m open to working with him if the opportunity arises.”
Previously, just like Suriya, the renowned Telugu actor Mohanlal also declined an invitation to join SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali production.
It’s said that Mohanlal was given the chance to play the character Kattapa in a movie, a role previously performed by Sathyaraj. Nevertheless, Mohanlal declined the part because he felt the screen time for this character was insufficient.
Speaking of Suriya again, he’s gearing up to deliver an impressive cinematic experience with his upcoming ventures. First in line is the Tamil fantasy thriller titled Kanguva. This film is helmed by director Siva and boasts a strong ensemble cast that includes Bobby Deol and Disha Patani, both making their Tamil cinema debuts.
As a dedicated fan of Tamil cinema with over two decades of fandom under my belt, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement at the prospect of Suriya 44! This iconic actor has been a staple in my movie-watching diet for years, and his upcoming film is no exception. With Pooja Hegde as the leading lady, and Jayaram, Joju George, Karunakaran, and others filling out the supporting roles, Suriya 44 promises to be a cinematic masterpiece that I can’t wait to add to my collection.
