Oh my goodness, what a rollercoaster ride Fahadh Faasil’s career has been! From a box office flop to becoming one of the most sought-after actors in the country, it’s truly inspiring to witness such resilience and determination.
Currently, Fahadh Faasil is one of the most desired actors throughout the nation. Born on August 8th (today!), he’s been making a lasting impression in the Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu film industries for the past ten years.
However, it might surprise you to learn that despite being a well-known actor now, Fahadh Faasil’s debut film, Kaiyethum Doorath, didn’t fare well at the box office when he first started his acting career at 20 years old. His father and veteran director Fazil directed this romantic musical, and his friends and loved ones still call him Shaanu on set.
The movie “Kaiyethum Doorath” boasted a prominent ensemble cast, such as Nikita Thukral, Rajan P Dev, Revathy, Siddique, and several others in significant parts. Notably, Mammootty also made a brief appearance. Regrettably, the film didn’t create much of a stir at the box office, and it received a blend of mediocre to unfavorable feedback from viewers.
After the premiere of the movie, there was a wave of criticism towards my father, Fazil, for attempting to force his son into cinema. But let me set the record straight – the blame lies with me for diving headfirst into films without proper preparation. My brother Fahadh stood by our dad and defended him against these allegations.
After spending seven years away from films, the actor decided to travel to the United States for further education and earned a Master’s degree in Philosophy from the University of Miami. Upon returning to his home country, he resumed his acting career by starring in the anthology film “Kerala Cafe,” directed by Ranjith. In this production, Ranjith also asked director Uday Ananthan to cast Fahadh Faasil in the segment titled “Mrityunjayam.”
From that point onwards, as one might say, history was made. Ever since his reemergence in the Malayalam film industry in 2009, I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing Fahadh Faasil shine in some truly remarkable films. Movies like Chaapa Kurishu, 22 Female Kottayam, Diamond Necklace, Bangalore Days, and Iyobinte Pusthakam, among others, have showcased his exceptional talent.
Fahadh Faasil initially ventured into Tamil films through Velaikkaran (2017), and subsequently appeared in Super Deluxe, Vikram, and Maamannan. Currently, he’s involved with the Tamil production Vettaiyan, where Rajinikanth plays the lead character. Recently, Faasil stepped into Telugu cinema for the first time with Pushpa: The Rise, starring Allu Arjun, taking on the role of the primary antagonist. He is also set to reappear in the sequel, slated for release in December this year.
From a flop at the box office to becoming a highly sought-after actor nationwide, Fahadh Faasil’s story is truly captivating. On this special day as he turns 42, we at TopMob extend our warmest birthday wishes to FaFaa!
