'They never said it was not unadulterated': Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan reacts to Supreme Court's observation on Tirupati Laddu controversy

As a lifestyle expert with a deep respect for religious and cultural traditions, I find myself deeply troubled by the ongoing Tirupati Laddu controversy. Having traveled extensively across India, I have had the privilege of experiencing the rich tapestry of its diverse cultures and faiths, and the sanctity of temple offerings like these laddus holds a special place in my heart.

Over the past few days, the debate surrounding the Tirupati Laddu controversy has been a hot topic in town. Notable figures have publicly voiced their opinions on this matter. In a recent development, the Supreme Court has momentarily halted the investigation led by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) regarding the suspected adulteration of ghee used to make Tirupati laddus until the next court hearing, which is set for October 3.

Speaking on a related matter, I had the opportunity to express my thoughts during a media interaction following the Supreme Court’s remarks on the subject at hand. As someone who has transitioned from acting to politics, I shared my perspective: “The Supreme Court did not outright state that it was not adulterated, but rather pointed out confusion regarding the date of the issue. They didn’t make a definitive statement one way or the other. Instead, they mentioned there is confusion about the date which will be clarified. Our government will proceed with investigating any potential violations over the past 5 years, recognizing that this matter extends beyond just the Prasad issue.

To put it simply, for those who are not familiar, on Monday (October 1), the Supreme Court criticized Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for making accusations about contaminated ghee used in preparing holy laddus at the Sri Venkateswara temple in Tirupati without substantial evidence. According to India Today, the question was raised: Why publicly announce these allegations when you already instructed an investigation? At least, it’s important to keep religious figures away from politics.

The Tirupati Laddu dispute started when Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, claimed that the ghee used in making the Tirupati laddu ‘prasad’ at the temple contained animal fat during the administration of the YSRCP government headed by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

After this, Pawan Kalyan also criticized the former chief minister, stating that the administration of temple matters under the previous government allegedly involved numerous questionable activities within the temple premises. “It’s not just about offerings (prasad), possibly alcohol and non-vegetarian food were supplied, there were parties happening there,” He further explained.
