As a longtime fan of “The Bold and the Beautiful,” I’ve watched Hope Logan’s character development with great interest over the years. And I have to say, her recent behavior towards Dr. John Finnegan has left me both puzzled and concerned.
Recently on “The Bold and the Beautiful,” Hope Logan has shown erratic behavior following her split with Thomas. Steffy Forrester’s observation that Hope becomes impulsive when she’s confused was proven correct during Monday’s episode, July 22. I had assumed Hope was daydreaming about Steffy’s husband, Dr. John Finnegan, but unfortunately, she made a public advance towards him instead.
I’d like to clarify that, although it was difficult for me to witness her behavior, I want to make it clear that I think it’s consistent with her past actions. She has a history of pursuing married or committed men, as seen when Liam was involved with Steffy. Today’s advances, however, seemed unlike something she would do, particularly in the way they were executed.
Hope tends to focus on being the recipient of people’s care and affection, rather than initiating it herself. She usually shuns flirtatious behavior or using her physicality to obtain her goals, except in the case of manipulating Thomas into granting her the parental rights following their divorce.
As a seasoned writer and avid consumer of romantic dramas, I’ve seen my fair share of characters trying to manipulate their love interests with various tactics, often using illnesses as an excuse for their questionable behaviors. In this particular scenario, the woman in question has been making shameless advances towards Finn, leaving me wondering if her attempts to ensnare him could be excused by an undiagnosed ailment.
Based on Hope’s unexpectedly bold behavior towards Finn, there’s a chance they could end up together and potentially disrupt Thomas’ plans to marry Paris. Normally, Hope employs a different strategy to win over a man: being sincere, attentively listening, and expressing contrasting views to Steffy in order to favorably influence the man’s affections. Previously, her target was Liam; now it is Finn.
If Hope, played by Annika Noelle in “The Bold and the Beautiful,” isn’t concealing any illnesses and isn’t preparing for a significant medical storyline, then the on-screen Hope seems as confused and lost as Steffy described. This is evident when she failed to recognize Finn’s discomfort with her advances and was taken aback by his offense. Instead of playful banter, she came across as an unwelcome pursuer, humiliating herself by persisting in her pursuit of a man who clearly wasn’t interested.
For years, I’ve admired Hope’s stories, which often revolve around her mother Brooke Logan and how much she aspires not to follow in her footsteps. I don’t want to be a homewrecker or cause pain like Brooke did. But there I was, in the dressing room, contemplating doing exactly what I swore I wouldn’t. The distinction between us, though, is that Brooke has always managed to keep a piece of the men she desired, even when they were committed elsewhere. That certainly isn’t true for Hope and Finn – and she’s painfully aware of that fact.
