The Witcher 4 Update: Geralt Won’t Be Protagonist of Upcoming Game

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must admit that The Witcher series has been a staple in my gaming journey. From the captivating narrative to the intricate world-building, CD Projekt Red has consistently delivered an immersive experience that few can match. So, when I heard about the latest update on The Witcher 4, I was both excited and apprehensive.

It appears that Geralt of Rivia may make another appearance in CD Projekt Red’s upcoming installment within the Witcher series, but with an unexpected twist. As suggested by Geralt’s voice actor during the most recent Witcher 4 development update, the White Wolf will not be the central character this time around.

What is The Witcher 4 update?

During a recent chat with Doug Cockle, the voice behind Geralt in The Witcher series, he shared some insight about The Witcher 4. He revealed that while Geralt will indeed appear in the game, another character won’t be taking over as the main protagonist this time around.

According to Cockle (as reported by VGC), while we’re certain that Geralt will appear in the game, the specific extent of his involvement remains unknown. The upcoming game won’t be centered around Geralt, but instead, it seems like a different character or storyline will take center stage this time. I can’t wait to discover who the game will focus on!

Although it’s been established that Geralt will feature in The Witcher 4, Cockle hasn’t had a chance to review the game’s script yet.

As a die-hard fan, I’ve got to say that while we don’t have a wealth of details on The Witcher 4 just yet, it’s an exciting time! CD Projekt Red has a massive team of over 400 developers working tirelessly on the project, codenamed Polaris. In a call to investors back in May, CEO Michal Nowakowski shared that they aim to push the narrative boundaries and explore innovative methods of storytelling, surpassing even The Witcher 3’s epic tale. The question now is: How will they achieve this grand vision? We’ll just have to wait and see!

In other updates about The Witcher, it’s been announced that Netflix’s fourth season is coming up. However, Liam Hemsworth will be stepping into the role of Geralt of Rivia, replacing Henry Cavill who left the project in 2022. Despite Season 4 not being released yet, the show has already been renewed for a fifth and final season.

As an avid fan, I’m thrilled to know that CD Projekt Red is working on various exciting projects! Among them is the highly-anticipated sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, a new adventure set in Night City. Additionally, they are collaborating with Molasses Flood on a Witcher game codenamed Sirius, which promises to be something special. And if that’s not enough, they are also developing a brand-new Intellectual Property! I can hardly wait to dive back into these captivating worlds!
