As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, the news about The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2077 sequel has me more excited than a kid on Christmas morning! Growing up in the era of dial-up internet and pixelated graphics, I never would have imagined that we’d be talking about not one, but TWO new installments of these beloved franchises.
CD Projekt Red has revealed that their upcoming game, tentatively known as “Project Polaris” (which many speculate to be The Witcher 4), is moving towards its complete production stage. Furthermore, the team is actively gearing up for the development of a follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077.
When does The Witcher 4 enter full production?
Based on CD Projekt Red’s recent financial report, they have made substantial advancements in The Witcher 4 development by the year 2024 and are about to complete their pre-production stage. Although a precise start date for full-scale production hasn’t been announced yet, it is clear that the team is getting close to reaching this important mark.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been keeping tabs on the latest project from Boston Studio, known as Project Orion – the anticipated follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077. It’s being spearheaded by a team of veterans from CD Projekt Red, joined by a fresh batch of talented developers, who are tirelessly setting the stage for this upcoming masterpiece.
According to a statement from CD Projekt, they continued their development work on upcoming projects during the first half of 2024 and also focused on selling games that were previously published. The Company is preparing to launch the main production phase for project Polaris, marking the beginning of the new Witcher saga’s first installment.
According to CD Projekt’s co-CEO Michal Nowakowski, progress on Polaris is moving forward, with the development team approaching a significant landmark that signals the close of the preproduction phase. Meanwhile, the initial part of the year has been bustling at the Boston studio as they prepare for Project Orion, a fresh game within the Cyberpunk universe.
According to the latest update from CD Projekt Red’s executive team, they remain committed to bringing forth the games that were earlier unveiled. Among these upcoming projects are Polaris, Orion, Project Sirius, and a remade version of The Witcher series.
Originally presented as a spin-off from The Witcher series, the game referred to as Sirius is characterized in the document as “a multiplayer game developed by The Molasses Flood.” It’s intriguing that it doesn’t explicitly mention The Witcher within its description, unlike other games in the list that have designated franchises.
In a recent disclosure, Doug Cockle, the voice actor for Geralt of Rivia, shared that The Witcher 4’s main character will not revolve around Geralt.
