The Wild Robot 2 Gets Exciting Sequel Update From Producer

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share the exciting buzz surrounding the potential sequel to last year’s captivating animated film “The Wild Robot.” Chris Sanders, the mastermind behind this enchanting tale, has hinted at the possibility of The Wild Robot 2. Set in a world where a lost robot named Roz learns to thrive on an unfamiliar island and forms a heartwarming bond with a solitary gosling, the movie left audiences spellbound with its original narrative while earning critical acclaim, even receiving three Academy Award nominations. In response to the escalating rumors about a sequel, the film’s producer, Jeff Hermann, has offered some enticing insights into The Wild Robot 2.

Jeff Hermann hints at talks for The Wild Robot 2 to begin soon

In a recent conversation, Hermann mentioned his desire to reprise the role in another installment of The Wild Robot series, but as of now, DreamWorks Animation has not given the project an official go-ahead.

At the 2025 Saturn Awards, the accredited producer shared, “I don’t have formal confirmation yet, but it’s no secret that there are additional books in the series that continue the story we started. Our movie is designed to align with the territory explored in the second book, and if given the chance, we would be thrilled to carry on the story.

Hermann hinted at potential discussions for a follow-up story, yet he’s not able to confirm anything definitively just yet. In his own words, “There may be conversations taking place, but I can’t share any official news right now.

The book “The Wild Robot” takes ideas from a novel by Peter Brown that was released in 2016. Remarkably, Brown has written two follow-ups to his initial story, titled “The Wild Robot Escapes” (published in 2018) and “The Wild Robot Protects” (2023). These sequels expand upon the tale of Roz, giving plenty of material if the developers decide to continue with the series. However, as Hermann mentioned, no definitive news has been shared about the potential sequel yet.
