In a recent chat with Vulture, I, Jason Isaacs (gamer’s perspective: Your friendly neighborhood actor, Jason Isaacs), opened up about my paycheck for The White Lotus. When the topic of the $40,000 per-episode salary that every cast member received came up, I shared some thoughts.
Isaac found out that The White Lotus’s compensation is common knowledge, but he pondered over the “remarkably small amount” and how it didn’t sway his decision in the slightest.
The actor from Harry Potter commented, “Actually, actors usually don’t discuss their pay in public because it’s incredibly imbalanced considering our work involves applying makeup and adopting funny voices. However, when compared to the typical earnings for major television shows, this amount is quite small.
Nevertheless, Isaacs mentioned that the “low” pay had minimal impact on his decision, stating instead that he would have gladly given something in return to be part of it. He also expressed his sentiments about being an experienced actor and receiving the same compensation as less-experienced actors. In a nutshell, the Star Trek: Discovery star conveyed that while he might not be happy with earning less than others, he doesn’t work for money.
The performer went on to discuss his spending habits. ‘Others might assume I’ve hoarded vast amounts of wealth, but regretfully, I’ve made an imprudent move by ensuring my expenses equaled my income, and as a result, I’ve virtually spent all the money I’ve made throughout the years.’
During the interview, Isaacs spoke affectionately about his lifelong companion, Emma Hewitt. They, who began dating in the 80s, got married in 2001. Regarding their longstanding relationship, the celebrity revealed that they had a brief separation during their “seven-year itch” period.
Despite Isaacs hitting rock bottom, Hewitt remained by his side. In fact, he shared that she was the only one who recognized his struggle and chose to stay, for which he expressed gratitude.
