The View: Where Is Sunny Hostin & Why Is She Absent?

Fans of The View have been wondering why Sunny Hostin wasn’t on the May 27 episode. Some were concerned, but co-host Whoopi Goldberg explained that her absence was due to a special personal occasion.

This week, Hostin won’t be seen on The View due to some reasons that are explained below.

For the whole duration of this week, Hostin is absent from The View, and here’s why.

Why is Sunny Hostin absent from The View this week?

This coming Tuesday, moderator Whoopi Goldberg announced that regular co-host Sunny Hostin would be absent from The View, as she’s set to attend her son Gabriel’s graduation ceremony.

This week, I’ll be heading to Cambridge, Massachusetts, because my son is graduating from Harvard University on May 29th. As a proud parent, I can’t wait to attend his commencement ceremony and witness this incredible milestone in person.

In a light-hearted manner, Goldberg explained why Hostin was absent this week: “It turns out Sunny won’t be here because she’s going to her son’s university graduation – and guess where? You got it, Harvard! How exciting!

In the moment, as the crowd burst into cheers, I exclaimed, “Just perfect timing,” echoing my admiration as The View’s live audience celebrated a memorable day in Hostin’s life. Continuing to heap praise upon Gabriel, the star of Sister Act said, “We always knew you had it in you, and now you’ve shown us! So, congratulations on your achievement!

On Tuesday’s episode of The View, Sunny Hostin was absent, so political commentator Ana Navarro took her place. Alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, and Navarro, the panel for that day also included Sara Haines and Alyssa Farah Griffin.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Hostin is set to return as host on The View starting from June 2, 2025.
