The Undertaker Opens Up About a Regretful WWE WrestleMania Match

As a lifelong WWE fan and someone who has witnessed the epic battles of The Undertaker at WrestleMania, I can’t help but feel a pang of sympathy for the legend himself when he speaks about his regret over WrestleMania 33 against Roman Reigns. The Undertaker is a titan of the wrestling world, a man who has defined the very essence of what it means to be a WWE superstar. Yet even he, with all his years of experience and unparalleled skill, admits that there was one match where things didn’t go as planned.

Legendary WWE Hall of Famer, The Undertaker, has spoken candidly about a WrestleMania match that he feels remorseful about. At WrestleMania 30, a decade back, Brock Lesnar shattered The Undertaker’s historic streak, leaving fans in the arena and globally stunned.

For a considerable period, The Undertaker ruled over WrestleMania, constructing an unrivaled history. Many WWE stars have harbored the ambition of squaring off against The Deadman at WrestleMania. Over time, he’s put on numerous captivating shows against Triple H, Shawn Michaels, CM Punk, Randy Orton, Mark Henry, and others at WrestleMania.

Multiple times, The Undertaker was the main event at WrestleMania. In 2020, he closed out his career with a dramatic match against AJ Styles during WrestleMania 36. He emerged victorious, preserving his undefeated record at WrestleMania, standing at 25 wins and only two losses.

It appears that the exceptional record won’t likely be surpassed for a while, but the WWE Hall of Famer has confessed that one WrestleMania bout continues to trouble him. He disclosed that if given the chance, he would choose not to have participated in that specific match.

The WWE WrestleMania match The Undertaker believes he should have avoided

During a chat on the Six Feet Under podcast featuring Mark Calaway, also known as The Undertaker, he talked about his WrestleMania 33 match against Roman Reigns. He looked back on the encounter, expressing remorse over how he delivered in the ring. In fact, due to his health at the time, The WWE Hall of Famer shared that it impacted his performance.

As a gamer, I can’t shake off the feeling of unease. It wasn’t so much about losing, but rather staying too long in the game. I felt like I didn’t quite measure up to my usual performance – there were moments I wished I could have given better. By then, my body was giving out, and I know now that I should not have pushed myself through that match.

At WWE WrestleMania 33, Roman Reigns defeated The Undertaker – marking the legendary wrestler’s second loss. After the bout, he left behind his distinctive coat, hat, and gloves inside the ring, leading many to speculate that he was retiring from professional wrestling. Yet, surprisingly, at WrestleMania 34 the following year, The WWE Hall of Famer made a comeback, overwhelmingly defeating John Cena in a one-sided match.
