As a long-time fan who has witnessed The Undertaker‘s incredible career unfold over three decades, it’s truly captivating to see him express his admiration for the new generation of WWE superstars. His desire to face current World Heavyweight Champion Gunther speaks volumes about his respect for the younger talent.
Legendary WWE Hall of Famer, The Undertaker, has hinted at possibly battling one of the current roster’s top contenders. With an impressive and enduring career spanning over several decades, this veteran wrestler has made a significant mark in the world of WWE.
Over a span of more than three decades, The Undertaker has solidified his status as a legendary wrestler. He not only takes the lead in the locker room but also imparts crucial wisdom to emerging talents through his matches. Known as The Deadman, he’s been involved in intense feuds with Kane, Stone Cold, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Mick Foley, Triple H, and numerous others. In essence, he has consistently given memorable, standout performances.
2020 saw me step into my last wrestling ring, squaring off against AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36. In a cinematic fashion, we battled it out, marking the end of an era for The Undertaker. Later, I retired and was honored by being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2022.
After retiring, he’s made multiple comebacks on WWE television, with his most recent being at WrestleMania 40 where he assisted Cody Rhodes in defeating Roman Reigns. In that match, The Undertaker performed a choke slam on The Rock, who had intervened during their altercation. Despite retiring, The Undertaker has expressed remorse for missing the opportunity to battle the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther.
The Undertaker says he would have drawn money with Gunther
In a recent discussion on the Six Feet Under Podcast, The Undertaker spoke about his chat with Gunther, revealing his wish to battle it out in the wrestling ring against him. He hinted that such a contest between them could have generated considerable interest and income.
He stated, “I’d love to see him wrestle Undertaker, that’s who I would have loved to have seen him wrestle. I told him that…a few weeks [ago], when I saw him in Austin. I was like, ‘Man, I would have drawn a lot of money with you.’ He was very gracious. He was like, ‘Thank you.’ He thanked me. I told him, ‘You’re my guy.’ He goes, ‘I hear you’ve said really nice things about me.’ I said, ‘Yeah, don’t screw it up,’ [laughs].”
It’s no wonder that The Undertaker appreciates Gunther’s work, given that the Ring Commander has left a significant mark on WWE fans ever since joining the league in 2019.
