As a romance enthusiast with a heart full of love for diverse stories and a shelf that groans under the weight of unread books, I must say that Danica Nava’s debut, The Truth According to Ember, published by Berkley, has left me utterly smitten!

Berkeley, known for its highly-anticipated romance releases, also includes “The Truth According to Ember” by Danica Nava among them, which many readers are eagerly waiting for.

If you’re a follower of romance book enthusiasts on social media platforms, chances are you’ve come across the charming cover of “The Truth According to Ember“. It seems this cover is quite popular and understandably so.

As a gamer, I couldn’t help but feel elated when Berkley sent me an advanced reader copy (ARC) of the upcoming book. Amidst my move in July, this read stood out as a top priority. Once I had unpacked and settled down, I dived right into it, and let me tell you, I’ve got some thoughts brewing!

As a dedicated bookworm who thrives on getting my hands on new reads before anyone else, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Berkley for providing me with an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of their latest offering. This early access has allowed me to delve into the book and share my thoughts with fellow readers, enriching not only my own reading experience but also contributing to the broader literary community. Having been fortunate enough to be part of this process, I look forward to more opportunities to engage with upcoming works in the future.

The Truth According to Ember is a remarkable debut by Danica Nava.

In a strikingly familiar scenario, “The Truth According to Ember” opens with Ember Cardinal, a Native American woman, seeking employment as an accountant. Despite her strong desire, she lacks a degree, and it appears that potential employers overlook her. In a moment of spontaneity, she decides to disregard conventional wisdom and apply for a job, presenting herself as white, given her white father’s heritage.

During her journey to an interview, Ember encounters an attractive gentleman but ends up getting a baby’s spit on herself. To her surprise, this man turns out to be none other than Danuwoa, the IT specialist from the very company she was headed for the interview with! It quickly becomes evident that Ember and Dan share a strong rapport from the get-go.

Eventually, Ember manages to secure a job and is swiftly promoted, yet this success seems to necessitate an increasing number of deceits. Simultaneously, her bond with Dan grows stronger. As Dan draws nearer to her, Ember persists in her deceptions, and eventually, the consequences catch up with her. Danica Nava skillfully guides us through a rollercoaster of events for most of this novel, but the final quarter leaves me utterly astounded as she dared to push the boundaries, something I believe many debut authors might shy away from.

Beyond cherishing Ember and Dan’s romantic bond, I found myself captivated by their family dynamics as well. Dan shared an exceptionally tight bond with his sister, and watching them interact brought me joy. Conversely, Ember was grappling with a tense relationship with her brother, which offered a fresh perspective. Moreover, Ember had a close friend named Joanna who functioned as her confidante, and I relished the depiction of their friendship throughout the story.

In a delightful first release titled “The Truth According to Ember“, you’ll encounter a thrilling romance, numerous memorable character interactions, and quite possibly one of my favorite book covers this year. The alluring cover art may just entice you into purchasing the book, and once you do, you’re in for an even more captivating experience.

The Truth According to Ember by Danica Nava is out now where books are sold.
