What happens in the new Toxic Avenger trailer?

In the latest trailer for The Toxic Avenger, Peter Dinklage takes on the role of Winston, a janitor who seems like an ordinary man, preferring peace over violence and longing to bond with his son, portrayed by Jacob Tremblay. However, everything takes a dramatic turn after an incident that alters him into a mutant crusader.

After that, a series of violent acts unfold involving Dinklage’s character, who is depicted as beheading and mercilessly killing several individuals. In addition, fresh scenes featuring Kevin Bacon and Elijah Wood’s characters, along with others, have emerged.

In the story, an unassuming janitor named Winston Gooze undergoes a dramatic change after a disastrous chemical incident, turning him into a unique kind of hero known as The Toxic Avenger. As he evolves from an outcast to a protector, Toxie stands up against heartless corporate rulers and corrupt entities who endanger his child, friends, and townspeople. In a society where greed dominates… it’s the radioactive solution that brings justice.

This movie is a modern retelling of the 1984 film titled the same, produced by Michael Herz and Lloyd Kaufman. That original film spawned four more movies: “The Toxic Avenger Part II” (released in 1989), “The Toxic Avenger Part III: The Last Temptation of Toxie” (also from 1989), “Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV” (from the year 2000).

Initially screened at Fantastic Fest back in September 2023, The Toxic Avenger faced difficulties finding a distributor. It wasn’t until Cineverse secured the rights in January 2025 that its release became imminent. Produced by Legendary Entertainment, this film will make its way to U.S. cinemas on August 29, 2025, and it will be unrated.
