Amazon Studios and MGM have revealed that the new heist film starring Michael B. Jordan, following in the footsteps of his role as Black Panther, will be released under the title The Thomas Crown Affair. This upcoming project is a fresh take on the movie from 1999, which was itself a remake, and traces its roots back to the original 1968 film starring Steve McQueen.
When is The Thomas Crown Affair release date?
The new adaptation of “The Thomas Crown Affair” by Jordan is set to hit cinemas on March 5, 2027, with no immediate competition. Yet, it will share the same month with several high-profile releases such as Sonic the Hedgehog 4, a Zelda movie, and an unnamed Godzilla x Kong sequel.
The forthcoming heist film, penned by Drew Pearce and Wes Tooke, is inspired by the original scriptwriter Alan Trustman’s concept. In addition to Jordan, Bones & All star Taylor Russell will headline this remake. The production team includes Jordan and Elizabeth Raposo from Outlier Society, as well as Patrick McCormick and Marc Toberoff. Trustman himself has taken up an executive producer role.
Jordan is set to appear in another major horror movie titled I Am Legend 2, where Will Smith’s character from the 2007 post-apocalyptic thriller reappears. Additionally, Jordan is working on the fourth part of his boxing drama series Creed, which he will also direct again. Recently, Jordan has agreed to produce a new horror project called The House of Last Resort, inspired by the 2024 bestselling horror novel of the same name, written by author Christopher Golden.
