The Handmaid’s Tale sequel show, The Testaments, has added a new co-lead to the cast.
Back in 2017, I stumbled upon a gripping TV show adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s novel, “The Handmaid’s Tale,” streaming on Hulu. Since then, this captivating series has continued its journey for five seasons, and come April 8, 2025, it will air its sixth and concluding season.
As an ardent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that a follow-up series titled “The Testaments” is being developed. This captivating tale, like its predecessor, is penned by the brilliant Margaret Atwood, and was released in 2019.
Who has been cast in The Handmaid’s Tale sequel show?
According to Variety, Lucy Halliday will take on the part of Daisy in “The Testaments”. Alongside her, Ann Dowd returns as Aunt Lydia, while Chase Infiniti is cast as Agnes.
Previously, Halliday appeared in a 2022 independent film titled “Blue Jean.” This role earned her the Best Actress BAFTA Scotland Award and a nomination for Best Supporting Performance at the British Independent Film Awards. Upcoming, you’ll find her in the movie “California Schemin,” which is directed by James McAvoy, who also stars in it alongside Halliday.
The Testaments is brought to you by its creator and head writer, Bruce Miller. Bruce is one of the executive producers for the series, with MGM Television also playing a significant role in its production, along with Warren Littlefield from The Littlefield Company.
In the fifteen years following the events of “The Handmaid’s Tale,” the theocratic government of Gilead, the Republic, remains strong but shows signs of decay from within. At a crucial juncture, the lives of three distinct women intersect, with the possibility of causing an explosion. Two of these women are part of the first generation to reach maturity under the new order. The accounts of these two young women are combined with that of Aunt Lydia, whose complex past and uncertain future unfold in unexpected and significant ways.
A premiere date for The Testaments has not yet been announced.
