Lola Tung shared with Elle magazine that she avoids social media to protect her mental health. “It’s hard to interact [with comments] because it fuels the negativity a bit,” she explained. “It’s frustrating, as people can be cruel when they feel anonymous online, which is not surprising.” However, this doesn’t stop her fame from impacting her everyday life.

Tung remembered an instance where a fan wanted to take her picture but she wasn’t in the mood. She communicated her discomfort, yet the fan persisted. She found herself saying, “I’m sorry,” which she didn’t enjoy because it made her feel guilty. Then the fan responded, “But I have the camera out already.” In that moment, Tung felt a bit disappointed, as if her personal space had been invaded.

Additionally, Lola Tung made clear that while she recognized the fans’ actions stemmed from excitement, it didn’t feel pleasant to her. She expressed, “I value genuine respect, and I simply ask for people to understand personal space. Such acts can be delightful, leading to wonderful interactions, memorable encounters, and bringing immense joy.
