The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 3: Release Window, Plot, Cast & News

As a dedicated fan who has been following The Sex Lives of College Girls since its inception, I can’t help but feel like a college student cramming for finals as we eagerly wait for season 3. It’s been a rollercoaster ride, filled with laughter, tears, and more cliffhangers than a suspense novel. The girls have grown on us, and we’ve grown with them – from naive freshmen to somewhat wiser sophomores.

Hooray for fans! HBO Max is bringing back another season of “The Sex Lives of College Girls,” allowing us to delve into the turbulent lives of our beloved roommates yet again at Essex College. Let’s pause and appreciate that this hilarious series has made it past the cuts at HBO – unfortunately, many other excellent shows have been canceled in recent months.

Gladly, I managed to survive another season of “The Sex Lives of College Girls.” The ending had me on the edge of my seat, both fearing and eagerly waiting for what’s next. But let’s delve deeper into it later on.

The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 3 Is “Coming Soon”

The anticipation for the third season of The Sex Lives of College Girls has been less enjoyable up until now – initially, HBO Max hinted at their return in spring 2024. Unfortunately, spring arrived without me getting to witness another round of college chaos, which I had expected based on previous seasons.

At the start of August, HBO rekindled anticipation: a sneak peek at upcoming content for the streaming service in 2024 and 2025 revealed characters Kimberly, Bela, Whitney, and Leighton. If you blink, you might miss it, but at approximately the 42-second mark, they are all visible, and they appear to be in good moods.

Despite the uncertainty, it looks like our best bet is still for Season 3 to come out in 2024, with a likely autumn premiere. Fingers crossed and let’s hope the wait won’t be much longer!

The Sex Lives of College Girls | What Happened So Far

If you haven’t watched Season 2 yet, please step aside and get caught up. Spoilers lie ahead for your convenience.

It has been some time since Season 2 aired, so let me provide you with a quick summary. The season ended with three major plot twists that significantly changed the storyline. Interestingly, Leighton is the one who seems content for once – an unexpected turn of events. This is quite remarkable character progression, but I’ll save my thoughts for later.

Leighton is back with Alicia once more, having ended things with a woman resembling Alicia, and has refuted rumors about moving into the Kappa house. She appears to be embracing herself, her friendships, and living life to the fullest. However, it’s worth noting that each of Leighton’s roommates are currently dealing with challenging situations in their lives.

Bela seemingly followed one poor choice with another, found herself fittingly depicted alongside ‘selfish’ in a dictionary image, and attempted to evade the repercussions of her actions by changing schools following the events of the debacle known as “The Foxy“.

Kimberly believes she’s relatively alright, but without her realizing it, Whitney has witnessed Kimberly and Canaan, whom Whitney used to date, kissing. Instead of confessing about the kiss, Kimberly chose to deceive Whitney. For now, living together seems unlikely since Whitney has decided to reside in the Kappa house following the betrayal.

In the upcoming season, there are several issues among the girls that require resolution for peace to be restored. Instead of fretting about their disputes right away, let’s first focus on who will be back and who will be departing from our cast in season 3.

The Returning Cast For Season 3 And One Hard Goodbye

It’s clear that the girls on the show have numerous challenges ahead, not all of them will manage to stick around. Reneé Rapp, who portrays Leighton, has already revealed she’ll be gradually phasing out, and season 3 will mark her final appearance. She’ll only appear in a limited number of episodes during the new season, so cherish every moment with her.

As a die-hard fan, I must say that it’s just Rapp who’s preparing to move on at the moment, leaving the rest of the cast to stay put temporarily. This includes Amrit Kaur as Bela, despite her character’s current intention to depart from Essex College. Pauline Chalamet and Alyah Chanelle Scott, who play Kimberly and Whitney respectively, have some plot threads to untangle before they’re both set to return for season 3.

Right smack dab between Kimberly and Whitney, Canaan, portrayed by Christopher Meyer, is quite the pivotal figure in their ongoing conflict. It seems likely that he’ll reappear in the next season, accompanied by his colleague Lila, brilliantly played by Ilia Isorelýs Paulino. Though Leighton might take a back seat for now, I can bet my last gaming coin that Alicia, charmingly played by Midori Francis, will be by her side once more.

Renée Rapp Leaves The Sex Lives of College Girls

Regrettably, changes are coming to our show: Renée Rapp is departing and will take Leighton with her. She won’t hold a main role in season 3, but instead, she’ll appear in just a few episodes before saying goodbye permanently. Luckily, it seems that all is well between the two of them, as Rapp made clear on Instagram.

college girls moved me out to LA and introduced me to some of my favorite people. 2 and a half years later – it’s given me y’all and this community. thank u mindy, justin and everyone at Max for believing in me. a lot of queer work gets belittled – but playing Leighton has changed my life. i love who I am 10x more than I did before knowing her. i hope she gave y’all a little bit of that too. she’s such a tiny part of representation but even the tiny parts count. i wouldn’t be half the person I am without her and y’all. i love that bitch more than you know. I’m so excited for this season and I can’t wait for you to see what we have coming for her and the girls.

Fortunately, Leighton gradually stepping away from the limelight seems logical, despite the pain it may cause. Initially, audiences became familiar with her as she grappled with entitlement, hiding her true self and struggling to meet family expectations. However, by the end of the second season, she managed to overcome all those challenges. As such, her personal issues have been largely resolved, providing a satisfying conclusion for her character.

It’s uncertain yet whether her roommates will find a happy resolution; let’s hope it happens soon. Rest assured, we’ll keep you informed as events unfold.
