The direction for Netflix’s movie adaption of “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” has been handed over to a fresh director, as reported by Deadline, indicating a new filmmaker will guide the production.

As reported by Deadline, it’s been confirmed that Maggie Betts, known for her work on “The Burial,” is now set to take the helm as director for an upcoming movie. Together with Liz Tigelaar, Betts will contribute to the film’s scriptwriting.

I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be taking on a role in a movie that initially had Leslye Headland at the helm. Interestingly, during her talk at the Sundance Film Festival, she disclosed that she is no longer associated with this project.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo revolves around a renowned Hollywood actress who has chosen an aspiring journalist to pen her biography. This movie will delve into Evelyn Hugo’s journey to stardom during the Golden Age of Hollywood, revealing the compromises she endured on her path to success.

The movie is adapted from the highly successful historical fiction novel with the same title by Taylor Jenkins Reid, released in 2017. This book remained on the New York Times Bestseller list for an impressive 120 weeks and has gained significant popularity among social media readers, especially on TikTok.

In the production of this movie, Reid and Margaret Chernin will serve as executive producers. Liza Chasin from 3Dot Productions and Brad Mendelsohn from Circle of Confusion have been appointed as the film’s producers.
