Fans who appreciated Jack Black’s humorous and musical performances in the movie School of Rock, directed by Richard Linklater, were particularly fond of the chemistry he shared with his youthful co-stars, including Caitlin Hale and Angelo Massagli. For these former child actors, the film held a special place in their hearts. As they grew older, they became an engaged couple, and their wedding served as the ideal occasion to gather the cast of School of Rock once more.
In the movie “School of Rock” directed by Linklater, Caitlin Hale portrayed Marta, the backup singer, and Angelo Massagli played Frankie, the security guard in the classroom. These two prominent actors didn’t just share the screen together in Paramount Pictures’ film; they developed a relationship off-screen as well. Eventually, as grown adults, they fell in love and got married on January 4th.
As a gamer, I had the privilege of being part of an extraordinary event recently – the wedding of Caitlin Hale and Angelo Massagli, as captured by my fellow School of Rock star, Rivkah Reyes, on TikTok. Nine of us cast members, along with our parents and siblings, came together to celebrate this special day. We danced the night away to Stevie Nick’s “Edge of Seventeen,” a nod to the iconic scene where Principal Mullins gets tipsy at a bar singing the same song. Sadly, Jack Black was unable to make it to the wedding due to commitments with his filming schedule. Yet, he took time out to record a warm video message for the newlyweds, extending his best wishes to them.
How did the two School of Rock stars get together?
Caitlin Hale and Angelo Massagli first crossed paths when they were both ten years old at the School of Rock. Despite not having a romantic relationship back then as child performers, Massagli expressed admiration for Hale during their audition process to The New York Times.
“I was like, ‘wow, that girl’s really, really, really something else.”
Following the debut of School of Rock in 2003, its two main actors pursued different careers and distanced themselves from showbiz. Interestingly, Hale transitioned to become an ultrasound technologist for OB-GYN, while Massagli is currently a TikTok legal representative. Despite staying connected through the cast’s group chat after filming, their reunion happened when they were both studying in Florida in 2018. What began as a casual lunch between ex-actors eventually evolved into something deeper.
Massagli remarked, “It seemed like things had reached a point,” but then we continued to have dinners together and spend our weekends out. We started feeling that something was developing here.
It turns out that Caitlin Hale’s feeling, that her partner was “the one,” proved accurate. In June 2023, the duo from School of Rock got engaged, and they exchanged wedding vows in 2025.
