The Running Man Cast Adds William H. Macy to Edgar Wright’s Adaptation

As a dedicated fan of both William H. Macy and the works of Stephen King, I am absolutely thrilled to hear that Macy is joining the cast of The Running Man! With his impressive resume spanning from Boogie Nights to Shameless and everything in between, I can’t wait to see him bring his unique charm and talent to this iconic role.

The star-studded cast of “The Running Man” remake is expanding, as per The Hollywood Reporter’s reports, with William H. Macy now being part of the talented ensemble in Edgar Wright’s version based on the Stephen King novel.

The award-winning actor Macy, recognized for his significant roles in popular movies and TV shows like Boogie Nights, Air Force One, Magnolia, Shameless, ER, and the upcoming 2024’s Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, is preparing to take on a new role as a helper to Ben Richards, played by Glen Powell, when he goes into hiding.

Who else is in The Running Man cast?

In the upcoming remake of “The Running Man,” the lead role will be played by Glen Powell, who’s best known from “Anyone But You.” His character will join a government-made survival reality show, where contestants compete for a $1 billion prize. The catch is that they must endure 30 days while evading a team of skilled assassins.

New actors joining the lineup are Katy O’Brian, Lee Pace, Michael Cera, Emilia Jones, Karl Glusman, and Dan Levy (Daniel Exra).

In the year 2025, I find myself immersed in a chilling depiction of America as imagined by King. The narrative centers around a determined character named Ben Richards, who’s battling for survival in a ruthless game show. My mission? Win enough cash to save my precious daughter from her afflictions. As it turns out, I’m Ben Richards in this gripping tale, with Powell portraying my resilience, while Brolin takes on the enigmatic role of the man orchestrating this brutal reality show.

The screenplay for the film was jointly penned by Wright, who is renowned for directing movies like Shaun of the Dead (2004), Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010), Baby Driver (2017) among others, and Michael Bacall. The movie is produced by Wright in collaboration with Nira Park and Simon Kinberg.

The Running Man is set to be released in United States theaters on November 21, 2025.
