What happens in The Roses trailer?
In the trailer for The Roses, it appears that Theo (played by Cumberbatch) and Ivy (Colman) share a blissful marriage. Yet, hidden from view, their union is crumbling. As feelings of jealousy and fury escalate, they engage in a fierce game of outdoing each other. Eventually, Theo cautions Ivy about things becoming too intense, but she responds by firing a gun at the chandelier.

For the seemingly perfect pair, Ivy (Olivia Colman) and Theo (Benedict Cumberbatch), life appears effortless with thriving careers, a strong bond, and wonderful children. However, beneath this tranquil exterior, there is an impending tempest – as Theo’s career falters while Ivy’s aspirations flourish, a powder keg of intense competition and concealed animosity ignites.
Among the cast of The Roses are Andy Samberg, Allison Janney, Belinda Bromilow, Sunita Mani, Ncuti Gatwa, Jamie Demetriou, Zoë Chao, and Kate McKinnon.
In this rendition, Jay Roach serves as the director for the film titled “The Roses,” penned by Tony McNamara who was previously nominated for an Academy Award. The production team includes Jay Roach, Michelle Graham, Adam Ackland, Leah Clarke, Ed Sinclair, and Tom Carver.

Directed by the talented Danny DeVito, this movie brought to life the tumultuous marriage played out by the stellar duo, Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner. DeVito’s masterpiece earned three Golden Globe nominations and raked in an impressive $160 million globally, all on a budget of just $26 million.
Searchlight Pictures will release The Roses in theaters on August 29, 2025.
