Following the airing of Episode 7 from Season 7 of “The Rookie,” actress Jenna Dewan has spoken up about the rumors swirling around her character Bailey Nune’s apparent break-up with John Nolan, portrayed by Nathan Fillion. This highly acclaimed crime drama made its return for its seventh season on January 7, 2025. The show initially premiered in October 2018 and boasts a large ensemble cast, including Mekia Cox, Eric Winter, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, among others, on ABC.
Jenna Dewan teases Nolan and Bailey’s future in The Rookie Season 7
Jenna Dewan recently delved into speculations about how the occurrences in “The Rookie” Season 7’s seventh episode, titled “The Mickey,” might influence the dynamics between characters Bailey and Nolan in their relationship.
In Episode 7, it’s revealed that Dewan’s character, Bailey, had been communicating with the hitman who was responsible for the death of Jason Wyler (portrayed by Steve Kazee), which occurred in Episode 5 titled “Til Death.” This revelation causes a heated argument between Bailey and her on-screen spouse, John Nolan (played by Nathan Fillion) in the seventh episode.
When asked about how Jason Wyler’s death and the secret revelation affected Bailey and Nolan’s relationship in The Rookie Season 7, Dewan explained to Screen Rant that “the season begins with intense drama and high-stakes for Bailey. From now on, it seems like the story will focus on her trying to find stability after this event and navigating her path with Nolan.
Jenna Dewan analogized the ordeal faced by Bailey and Nolan early in the season to walking on hot coals. She explained, “I believe that when you experience something as severe as that together and manage to survive it, there’s a special understanding between them – they can glance at each other and say, ‘We went through that. It was intense, we overcame it, and our love for each other has grown stronger because of it.’
The Rookie Season 7 has a total of 18 episodes, with each one airing on Tuesdays every week.
