Amazon’s Prime Video has formally declared the third season renewal for the popular fantasy drama series The Rings of Power, a prequel to the classic Lord of the Rings movie trilogy. Filming is anticipated to start around springtime at Shepperton Studios in the United Kingdom.

Amazon Studios, in partnership with MGM, has unveiled the official synopsis for Season 3. This revelation confirms that the upcoming season will see a significant leap forward in time, placing viewers right in the midst of the intense conflict between Elves and Sauron during the war’s peak. Additionally, the directorial lineup for Season 3 has been announced, with Charlotte Brandstrom (Shogun), Sanaa Hamri (The Wheel of Time), and Stefan Schwartz (The Boys, The Walking Dead) among those set to direct.

In the timeline, moving on from the incidents in season 2, season 3 unfolds amidst the climax of the Elves and Sauron’s War. At this critical juncture, Sauron is attempting to forge the One Ring, which he believes will tip the balance in his favor and ultimately allow him to dominate Middle-earth completely.

In the show “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” a diverse group of actors headline the production, including Robert Aramayo portraying Elrond, Morfydd Clark in the role of Galadriel, Maxim Baldry as Isildur, Ismael Cruz Córdova playing the Silvan elf Arondir, Charles Edwards depicting the Elven smith Celebrimbor, Sophia Nomvete as the dwarven princess Disa, Charlie Vickers as Sauron, Cynthia Addai-Robinson as Miriel, and Ema Horvath as Eärien.

The show was created by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, who are in charge of its overall direction (showrunners). Lindsey Weber, Callum Greene, Justin Doble, Jason Cahill, Gennifer Hutchison, and Charlotte Brändström serve as executive producers.
