The Residence Teaser Trailer: Giancarlo Esposito & Jason Lee Star in White House Murder Mystery

Netflix has recently revealed a tantalizing sneak peek for the upcoming mystery series, The Residence, which features Uzo Aduba (familiar from Orange Is the New Black), Giancarlo Esposito (star of Better Call Saul), and Jason Lee (known for My Name Is Earl).

On March 20, 2025, “The Residence” will make its debut on our streaming platform. This series is brought to you by Paul William Davies, a former writer and producer from Scandal, with Shonda Rhimes, creator of Grey’s Anatomy, serving as one of the executive producers.

What happens in The Residence teaser trailer?

In the recently unveiled preview, the story begins with Cordelia Cupp, a consultant for the Metropolitan Police Department, who believes a murderer is lurking nearby following the discovery of the White House chief usher’s body (played by Esposito) during a state dinner. Known as the world’s top detective, Cordelia encounters challenges as she searches through 132 rooms while investigating a pool of 157 potential suspects.

Aduba’s Cordelia proposes that it might be an employee, or possibly a visitor – anyone, for that matter,” [or] “Aduba’s Cordelia speculates it could be a staff member, a guest, or simply anyone.

The Residence is a humorous mystery story set in different levels of the White House, involving an assortment of its unusual staff. Amidst numerous plot twists, detective Cordelia Cupp teams up with FBI special agent Edwin Park (played by Randall Park) to unravel an intriguing and potentially lethal enigma. As the trailer hints, the victim of the murder is A.B. Wynter, the White House’s chief usher – making everyone a possible suspect.
