In a more approachable manner, we can say: Following Tag’s unruly behavior during the previous episode, the situation escalated significantly online and Greer’s reputation was at stake in a public relations predicament. They aim to inform everyone that Tag has an alcohol issue and intends to enter a program to receive assistance
Amelia and Benji appear to have resolved their issues, unlike many others who are grappling with relationship troubles. Thomas makes an early exit, claiming he needs to jog, while Abby remains in bed, skeptical about her husband’s honesty. Unbeknownst to Abby, Thomas encounters Isabel at the Sand Dollar and they engage in a secret rendezvous. Upon their encounter, Isabel demands her money back from Thomas, who had earlier given it to her. When confronted by Abby about his infidelity, Thomas denies any affair
In Amelia’s understanding, Greer reveals that Merritt had barbiturates in her system at the time of her demise, and swiftly dismisses the notion that Merritt was a casual drug user. However, when Carter and Henry arrive to interrogate Greer and seize her computer and personal items, a wave of shock sweeps through the Winbury household
Greer’s secrets come to light
It appears that Carter and Henry are disputing Greer with Broderick Graham over a matter concerning Shooter’s payment to Merritt, allegedly intended for killing. However, both parties deny any wrongdoing and maintain their respective innocence. In essence, they affirm that this is the situation at hand, and they have successfully unraveled the mystery. Greer stands firm on her claim of innocence without disclosing anything incriminating
Initially, I was considered an old acquaintance by this guy, Broderick, who was in a tight financial spot. In a pinch, he turned to me for some cash, which I provided. The police have been trying to piece together the late-night call to Broderick and my unusual closeness with Shooter. Things took an interesting turn when they unexpectedly brought Broderick in, and that’s when the truth started to unravel
Greer acknowledges that her brother, Broderick, has a gambling problem and requires $300,000 to settle a debt resulting from his addiction. With this admission, they are now free to depart. Greer and Broderick return home, and the remaining secrets continue to surface. Few anticipated Greer’s revelation about her brother, but it still comes as a surprise
She has grown tired of perpetuating a lie and chooses to confess to her family and colleagues that she and Tag did not attend a gallery opening. In reality, the duo met at a bar where Greer was working as an escort, sleeping with male companions for financial gain. Broderick managed Greer’s clients, one of whom was Tag. She has decided to renounce the lie, reveal Tag’s secrets, and tidy up after everyone’s messes. Now she is free and writing a book about this truth
Thomas stole a pill from Amelia’s mom
After being detained, Amelia shares some private moments with her parents. The discovery of Merrit barbiturates in her system triggers a revelation from her mother, Karen. In the course of this conversation, it becomes clear that one of the three barbiturate pills she needed is missing from her medication bag
Bruce, Amelia’s dad, tells Amelia that her mom bought three pills for euthanasia, and one of them is missing. They plan to take these items to the police with Benji by their side. Karen acknowledges that the pills are a precaution in case Amelia’s cancer gets worse
Amelia and Benji inform the police that multiple individuals within the house might have been able to reach the pills, given the fact that Thomas has a history of stealing medications and engaging in what’s known as “prescription roulette.” Earlier in the series, we witnessed the family often confuse their medications and randomly take one
Instead of Karen’s barbiturate pills being potent enough to kill Merritt, they were only powerful enough to make her unconscious. Amelia accuses Thomas of stealing the pill, which he attempts to deny but admits to having done so. He is taken into custody for questioning while Abby suspiciously clears the drawer on his bedside table
Thomas, as he tells Carter and Henry, kept a pill given by Karen for himself, choosing not to share it with Merritt or mix it with the roulette stack. He informs the police that he took his grandfather’s guns to the beach to intimidate Merrit and threaten her with the implication of having an abortion. However, Isabel intervenes before he could fire the weapon
Thomas asserts that Isabel is responsible for keeping the money that should have been Merritt’s, as their youngest family member turns 18. In 18 years, the trust will be released and split among four people instead of three. This means that Isabel won’t get her $2 million from Thomas for a longer period of time
Abby killed Merritt… Here’s how and why
Isabel did not kill Merritt for money because she wasn’t expecting to be paid by Thomas (which can seem confusing since she had asked for payment). Instead, at the time of Merrit’s death, Isabel was having a sexual relationship with Thomas, and there is video evidence to support this claim
From Gosia’s interview, Henry uncovers a revelation about Abby: Thomas didn’t share their bed on the night of the murder, but Abby falsely claimed he did. Gosia mentioned that Abby is quite particular when it comes to laundry, insisting on washing her sheets, clothes, and even water glasses. This sparks Henry’s memory; she had been washing a glass the morning Merritt was discovered. Could this be the glass containing the barbiturate?
Forensics discovered that talcum (an ingredient in the off-market lotion) is on Merritt’s hair shaft. Henry talks to Abby while waiting for Thomas to finish processing. He asks about the money Isabel loaned to Thomas and presses for more information. Abby is not giving details, but she does reveal a sign of her dishonesty and deceitful ways
Thomas discusses his theory about Isabel with Benji, Greer, Amelia, and Will. However, Greer begins to investigate Abby regarding Merrit’s death. Not long after, Carter and Henry show up to arrest Abby for the murder of Meritt, and she gets angry.)
Reframing in plain language: Abby retrieves a flashlight, applies some lotion, and stands on her balcony as Isabel and a tipsy Thomas leave the shore, and Merritt trips over shattered glass. She steals a bottle, smashes it into some juice, and reunites with Merritt on the beach. Abby discusses her distrust of men to handle the task effectively
Merrit drinks a beverage and joins Abby for a swim in the sea. Afterward, Merrit becomes unresponsive and sinks into the sea. Abby keeps Merrit’s head submerged until she drowns and perishes. Eventually, Merrit re-emerges from the water without showing any emotion. Abby has claimed the life of Merrit, day declared
As a gamer, I’m starting to see that Abby’s intentions aren’t entirely clear, but it seems like it’s all connected to Thomas. Killing Merritt was about the money, undoubtedly because Abby thought she caught Thomas planning to shoot Merritt (which wasn’t his actual plan) over the trust fund. He needed the cash to repay Isabel, and Abby was aware of that. In her words, “You can’t rely on a man to get the job done; you have to do it yourself.” And that’s exactly what she did. Until the end, Abby managed to hide her footprints really well, making everyone else appear guilty. If Isabel had taken the fall, Abby would have considered that as ‘two problems solved at once’
Greer and Amelia have one last encounter
With the lingering mystery of a murder investigation casting a shadow, Greer elects to depart for the metropolis, penning down her forthcoming book. Tag will remain behind in Nantucket. The state of their relationship and the future that lies ahead are ambiguous. Amelia and her kinship leave Nantucket precisely when Isabel happens upon Thomas
Half a year has passed, and Amelia finds herself working with penguins at a London zoo. One day, unexpectedly, Greer shows up for a visit. Given that it’s been a while since Amelia last communicated with the Winburys following her departure from Nantucket, this encounter comes as a surprise. Accompanying Greer is a manuscript for a new book, which centers around Amelia. However, Greer insists on sharing it with publishers only if Amelia approves. The book is dedicated to those who are absent and, hopefully, those who will become part of her life in the future
Greer acknowledges that her anger towards Amelia was due to her envy over the book, titled “Your Move.” She offers to have dinner together if Amelia isn’t bothered by the book. Greer expresses hope in catching up with Amelia. Amelia sets down the manuscript on a nearby rock and continues working
