As a devoted fan of suspenseful dramas, I must say that The Perfect Couple has me hooked! Each episode unveils new twists and turns that keep me guessing until the very end. This week’s installment was no exception, with shocking revelations, unexpected alliances, and a cliffhanger that left me on the edge of my seat.
WARNING: Major spoilers ahead from The Perfect Couple episode 5.
After finding out about Amelia and Shooter’s kiss in episode 4, our once-wedded duo has called it quits. Though it’s not spelled out, I woke up on a cot in her parents’ room that morning. When I bumped into Greer in the kitchen later, she promised to secure us a hotel for my family and me. It seems everyone at the Winbury estate knows about our split. (As a gamer narrating this scene)
Interestingly, Greer grants the Sacks family permission to stay, primarily due to it being a holiday weekend and all the local hotels being fully booked. However, her initial kindness seems to fade, and the interaction doesn’t conclude without a subtle dig about Amelia’s brief indiscretion with Shooter. In response to Greer’s comments, Amelia inquires about Tag’s location. It appears he spent the night at the police station instead. Oh dear!
Tag didn’t kill Merritt (but he has a public meltdown)
Reflecting on my days in jail, I recall my heartfelt chat with Merritt during our rehearsal dinner party, gazing out at the vast expanse of the ocean, and serenading “All By Myself.” In an unexpected turn, I offer Merritt a drink to toast, but it’s then she shares her joyful news – she’s pregnant! To my delight, his reaction was one of excitement about the baby, and he confessed his love for me
When Carter and Henry inquired about it, Tag seemed unbothered about his connection with Merritt. They persistently grilled him over leaving his kayak out overnight, which could appear suspicious given their theory that Merritt was drugged and drowned. However, many staff members have access to the kayak, so Tag isn’t the prime suspect in this case
In their efforts to pinpoint the sequence of events preceding Merritt’s demise, Carter and Henry are simultaneously working to clear Tag as a potential suspect by considering his sleep schedule. A flashback uncovers a conversation between Tag and Merritt just before her death, where he indirectly suggests she consider an abortion. This leads to a heated exchange, culminating in Merritt running towards the water, with Tag pursuing her. Tragically, she slips and falls into the water
Following the recollection of their dispute, Tag comes to understand that police could potentially utilize data from his smartwatch to confirm he was asleep during the crime, prior to the drugs affecting her. Consequently, he decides to surrender both his watch and phone. Afterwards, he is released from jail and gets carried away with joyous spirits a bit excessively before reaching Greer’s book party
In the midst of Greer reciting a passage from ‘Death in Dubai’, Tag persistently downs drinks, then unexpectedly makes an entrance onto the stage. Interrupted by Broderick’s appearance who was swiftly escorted out by security, the chaos intensified. Tag proceeded to propose a toast and sing while expressing his desire to murder her. Matters escalated further when he declared their marriage as irreversibly broken, subsequently trippingly revealing it, later tumbling off the stage and accidentally slipping off the statement that their relationship is beyond salvage-stricken. A total disaster!
Abby remains welcoming to Amelia
Somehow, Abby decides to handle the chore of packing Merritt’s garments and personal items. She humorously suggests this is because she’s a white woman, implying the police won’t mind if she interferes with the victim’s possessions. When Amelia observes her doing this, the two women who are almost sisters-in-law have an unexpectedly heartwarming conversation, which is surprising given Abby’s usual demeanor
Abby praises the genuine nature of Amelia’s friendship with Merritt, contrasting it with her own shallow friendships. She expresses regret that they won’t be sisters-in-law, as she saw an opportunity for mutual support within the Winbury family. Furthermore, she persuades Amelia to attend Greer’s book launch, arriving looking stylish and unfazed. What’s her motivation or intention here?
Amelia learns the truth about Shooter
At the book launch event, I bump into Amelia, and as we mingle, she spots Shooter casually strolling around. Abby whispers to me, “I get why you went for him,” she says, nodding towards Shooter. “Rich guys like him have always had bodyguards in school because they’re ‘rich-kidnap prone.'” It turns out I was unaware of his affluence until now
At the party, Isabel engages with Benji and Amelia, first proposes to Benji proposingto Benji, she suggests to Amelia, then she responds to Amelia, he greets Amelia, she addresses Amelia, she acknowledges Benji and Amelia

The cops realize Greer could be a suspect
When they carefully examine Tag’s smartwatch data, they find no evidence of another person sharing his bed during crucial times related to the case. Since Greer was absent from their bedroom for more than an hour, it raises suspicion that she might have been involved in Merritt’s demise
In this context, there is here someone present in the air. The air.thetitude.thetment.thet.thetment. thetent. Thetenthe. thet. thenting
As she was dying, a memory showed that Greer saw Merritt falling and she had stumbled on the beach. This unknown person approached the sandbaggingterritionally. The final scene suggests that Greer perceived Merritt stumbling before her death, causing upsetness and movement on the broken glass. A mysterious figure approaches Merritt, leading us to suspect it could have been Greer
