The Winburys get publicity
In the quiet of the night, Amelia finds herself stealthily leaving her bed and exploring Tag’s office, a place that now seems shrouded in mystery. However, Greer swiftly discovers her and sternly warns against any future visits to this off-limits space. The following day brings unwanted attention, as photographers and a representative from People Magazine are scheduled for an interview with Greer and Tag. Despite the less than ideal circumstances, Greer insists they can’t reschedule and must carry on as if everything is normal
At the police station, Shooter is in custody and requests a lawyer. Meanwhile, we delve into another intriguing connection within the series between Will and Carter’s daughter Cleo. Late at night, Will secretly enters Cleo’s room, triggering a memory of a housewarming party. A flashback ensues, revealing that Will and Cleo shared secret drinks while avoiding others, and when they spotted Merritt on the beach, Will approached her. Confused, Cleo eventually dozed off on the sand. She was later roused by Will’s cries of pain and a flow of blood from his hand. This is why Cleo’s uniform carries bloodstains. In the present storyline, Carter storms into Cleo’s room, finding Will there. He inquires about Will’s injured hand, but Will remains silent regarding the cause
The May Pratt thing
Amelia and Abby are relaxing by the poolside when Abby advises Amelia not to interfere with Greer, assuring her that if anyone is responsible for Merritt’s death, the authorities will uncover the truth. Abby then mentions “the May incident,” which leaves Amelia puzzled. Abby reveals that May Pratt was a summer tutor at their place who mysteriously vanished. Abby admits she had always suspected something sinister happened to May. In an unexpected display of empathy, Abby also extends her apologies to Amelia for the loss of Merritt
Here’s a simpler way of expressing it in more common and easier-to-understand language: Amelia mentions to Benji concerning May, noting they never mentioned the unusual circumstance. They find the situation odd, clarifying that May departed without saying goodbye. They don’t want Amelia to delve deeper
In an interview with People Magazine, Greer and Tag discuss their marriage and Greer’s latest book. Despite the expected insincerity, Greer becomes annoyed with Tag for being excessively dramatic. After being left alone in their room, she scolds him for his excessive romantic gestures amidst the chaos, leading to an argument. In the heat of their disagreement, she slaps him, but their quarrel soon transforms into a passionate kiss before Greer departs the room. On her exit, she encounters Amelia in the hallway and advises her to get ready for the family photo shoot
Benji’s got a secret
The authorities examine Merritt’s call history and find several missed calls from one number, along with a voicemail containing a man’s voice. In the message, the man expresses worry about Amelia discovering something, but we don’t know what he’s hinting at. As it turns out, the mysterious voice belongs to Benji! This could mean that Benji is hiding an affair with Tag, or perhaps some other secret from Amelia
Later on, a lawyer arrives at the police station to defend Shooter, leading to his release due to insufficient evidence to hold him. However, the police inform him that he is not permitted to leave the island. Meanwhile, everyone assembles for a family photograph for People Magazine, with Amelia’s parents and Isabel included. During this time, Detective Henry drops by Chief Carter’s home while he was cooking dinner and shares some intriguing information about the Winbury family that he learned from Isabel during their conversation. It appears that all of the family’s wealth is kept in trust funds, which explains why Greer continues to write books as she uses the income to cover expenses. Additionally, Detective Henry discovers that Benji had trouble in his teenage years and was expelled from school, while Will has difficulties with his father and suffers from anxiety. While this information doesn’t directly incriminate anyone, it does add complexity to the situation
A very messy dinner
As I stepped back into the comforting embrace of my Winbury home, I found myself cornered by Greer, who whispered confidentially that he hadn’t shared our secret stash with the law. The relief in his eyes was palpable, making me feel like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders. Later, during an explosive and enlightening dinner, Amelia didn’t hesitate to question Greer about the NDAs and dig into the mystery of May Pratt. Tom, ever the instigator, managed to stir up more chaos, while Greer and Tag remained tight-lipped
The investigation has yielded some findings and it appears that Merritt was indeed expecting a child. Furthermore, the blood found on the sand is confirmed to be from both Merritt and Will, and an oyster chucker at the crime scene also had Will’s blood on it. This seems to implicate Will in Merritt’s murder, but could things really be that straightforward? Carter arrives home to discuss Will with Chloe, but finds out she’s slipped away instead
Greer pursues Tag on the beach as he searches for Will, while Chloe locates him and learns about May aboard their boat in the sea. Meanwhile, Amelia ventures to the beach in search of Will but stumbles upon a pair of jeans, a blanket, and Tag’s bracelet given to Merritt left on the sand. She informs the police that Will had been concealing these items. (Paraphrased)
