Colin Farrell recently spoke about the potential for another season of The Penguin, but his latest remarks may not stir much enthusiasm among viewers.
What is the latest The Penguin Season 2 update?
As I chatted with The Hollywood Reporter recently, I hinted at the potential for another season of that smashing HBO show we all love. I admitted it’s an uphill battle considering the mind-blowing finale where Oz Cobb offed his protégé Victor, solidifying himself as a real nasty piece of work.
Farrell stated, “Indeed, I believe making another season will be a challenge. Bringing Vic back after his death is a difficult task; it’s not impossible, but it’s a steeper ascent we must tackle.
Although it’s challenging, Farrell has never explicitly ruled out coming back for another season. Back in February, Farrell expressed that he wasn’t keen on a second season initially, but hinted at being open to continuing with the character following his role in the upcoming The Batman movie.
Earlier this year, during a chat with Josh Horowitz on Happy Sad Confused, director Matt Reeves shared that he, along with showrunner Lauren LeFranc, actor Aaron Farrell, and executive producer Dylan Clark, have been having ongoing discussions about the potential continuation of Oz’s captivating storyline.
Clearly, they’re moving forward with The Batman 2, as they want to ensure the release timing is perfect. Their aim and aspiration are indeed to produce another season, but they need to develop an idea they believe is fitting, which is exactly what they’re currently working on.
The Penguin television series was a massive success for Farrell, Warner Bros. Discovery, and everyone involved in it. It garnered rave reviews from critics, and even received three Golden Globe Award nominations. Notably, Farrell won the Best Actor — Miniseries or Television Film category for his exceptional portrayal of Oswald “Oz” Cobb.
