HBO CEO Casey Bloys has shared a new update on whether or not The Penguin Season 2 is happening.
Launched by Lauren LeFranc in September 2024, the series known as The Penguin originated as a spin-off from the 2022 film The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves. In this continuation, Colin Farrell returns to portray Oswald “Oz” Cobb, while Cristin Milioti takes on the role of Sofia Gigante.
Discussions and rumors are swirling about the possibility of a second season for The Penguin. Officially, there’s no confirmation as of now, but those associated with the production hinted at a potential continuation.

As a fan eagerly anticipating The Penguin Season 2, when recently asked by Variety about its potential, here’s what I can share: Matt Reeves, currently focusing on getting the upcoming movie off the ground, has been discussing ideas for another season with showrunner Lauren LeFranc. While the film takes precedence at this moment, there have been thoughts about a potential new chapter. However, as far as I know, Matt’s main concern is the movie right now. Yet, I can assure you that Lauren is brainstorming potential storylines that could complement the movie’s narrative. So, while it’s not confirmed yet, a future season seems definitely possible!
Reeves has just submitted his screenplay for The Batman Sequel, set to premiere in U.S. cinemas on October 1, 2027.
When queried about Farrell’s involvement in reprising Oz for The Penguin Season 2, Bloys affirmed, “Indeed, he’s the right actor to portray that complex character and endure multiple hours daily in makeup. Therefore, his agreement is crucial.
