The Old Rattle-Drum quest in Black Myth: Wukong

As a seasoned adventurer with countless hours spent traversing the mystical realms of Black Myth: Wukong, I can confidently say that the Old Rattle-Drum has been a tantalizing enigma for many players. However, fear not, fellow travelers! With my years of experience under my belt (and a few scars to prove it), I’ve managed to unravel this age-old mystery.

If you have discovered the Old Rattle-Drum in Black Myth: Wukong and have no idea what to do with it, then you are in luck. This old mystery has been solved.

What to do with the Old Rattle-Drum

Should you take the ancient drum known as the Old Rattle-Drum to certain locations within the Yellow Wing Ridge, it could aid in resolving a mystery for a spectral child. It’s not surprising that some sorrowful event transpired en route.

1. The initial step is acquiring the Old Rattle-Drum, if it’s not already in your possession. To obtain it, you should first defeat Tiger Vanguard as part of your quest for Tiger’s Keenness. After that, proceed beyond the Crouching Tiger Temple and continue your journey to Windrest Hamlet.

Afterward, you’ll come across a bridge, and guarding it is the Tiger’s Acolyte. Overpower him to secure the Old Rattle-Drum. Be cautious during this encounter because he may try to push you towards the edge of the bridge and potentially knock you off.

1. Head back to Windrest Hamlet and enter through the rear main entrance. Once inside, take a left turn and walk a short distance. Soon, your screen will become grey and you’ll be asked to use the drum. Utilizing it will make the boy speak. Defeat any enemies that appear, and then we’ll proceed to the next location.

Location #2

Hearken back to the dismal Valley of Despair, the place where you vanquished the colossal rat and its diminutive father. Ensure you’ve eliminated the Stone Vanguard there, for that is crucial to acquire the Sternness of Stone first. Lacking it? Fear not, as the guide above will equip you with all the necessary knowledge. Once in possession of the Sternness of Stone, you shall be able to unlock the mighty gates hindering your advancement.

1. Follow along the path and make your way downhill, passing beneath the wooden frameworks on your right as you reach the base. Be careful, some tiny adversaries might be concealed there. Again, the child will call for you to strike the drum.

Location #3

Let’s retrace our steps to the beginning of the chapter, as we make our way back to Sandgate Village. Approach the main entrance and take a left, walking towards the rear through a small gate. As the scene shifts, tapping the drum will summon the boy who then jumps down from the well.

Descend where he leads, and there you’ll encounter a hidden adversary, the Crazed Tiger. He is the sibling of the Tiger Vanguard, displaying similar fierce combat skills. However, I believe this battle will be the least challenging among the three Tiger duels.

1. Be cautious of his rock-shattering slam attacks that deal area-wide damage; they can be quite harmful. If you manage to defeat him, proceed further into the cave where you’ll discover a chest. Open it to obtain the Plaguebane Gourd. Though its healing effect will be reduced, it will temporarily boost your attack power after consumption.

As someone who has spent countless hours immersed in mysteries and puzzles, I can confidently say that the Old Rattle-Drum enigma has finally been unraveled. For those of you who might have missed out on this intriguing tale, a gentle reminder: if you haven’t yet had the pleasure of delving into Chapter 1, you may want to revisit it for the three mysterious bells hidden deep within the forest that lead to a secret area. Trust me, the experience is well worth your time!
