Fresh snaps from Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film titled “The Odyssey” offer a sneak peek at Zendaya portraying her character Athena in scenes with Matt Damon. The eagerly awaited movie is scheduled to hit theaters on July 17, 2026. Alongside these prominent actors, the film boasts an impressive ensemble cast that includes Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, and many others.

On the internet, pictures from the filming location of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey surfaced, offering fans an early glimpse into Zendaya’s character, Athena, on set.

The pictures were shared by the fan account @ChrisNolanMedia on platform X (previously Twitter). In these images, Zendaya portrayed Zeus’ daughter and the goddess of wisdom, adorned in a long, off-white, sleeveless Greek dress. The actress from Spider-Man: No Way Home could also be seen with her hair pulled back.

In additional images taken at the same spot, you’ll find Zendaya with Matt Damon. He assumes the lead character of Odysseus in the film, and these pictures show him with a long, gray beard and bare-chested.

Additionally, let me share that this second peek at Damon’s portrayal of Odysseus deviates from the initial glimpse unveiled on February 17, 2025. Universal Pictures had previously shared a sneak peek of Odysseus in an Instagram post and captioned it, “Matt Damon as Odysseus. A film by Christopher Nolan, #TheOdysseyMovie will be in theaters July 17, 2026.

Universal Pictures characterizes The Odyssey as a “mythical action epic filmed globally with state-of-the-art IMAX cinematography.” This upcoming movie is inspired by Homer’s ancient Greek poem, The Odyssey. Nolan is currently filming the production in Favignana, Italy, an island once known as Aegusa (Goat Island) in antiquity. Additionally, some scenes will be filmed on the island of Sicily.
