"The Night Before Christmas in Wonderland" finds voice cast with Emilia Clarke, Gerard Butler, and Simone Ashley

As a huge fan of animated films and classic stories, I’m absolutely thrilled to hear about “The Night Before Christmas in Wonderland,” an upcoming musical production that promises a magical fusion of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland” and Clement Clarke Moore’s “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” The announcement of the star-studded voice cast, featuring Emilia Clarke as the Queen of Hearts, Gerard Butler as St. Nick, and Simone Ashley as Alice, has only heightened my anticipation for this festive adventure.

As a seasoned film critic with over two decades of experience under my belt, I am thrilled to share my excitement about the upcoming animated musical, “The Night Before Christmas in Wonderland.” Having had the privilege of watching the entertainment industry evolve over the years, it’s always a joy to witness new and innovative projects come to life.

The movie will be inspired by Carys Bexington’s 2019 bestseller, “Alice in Winterland,” which combines the elements of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland” and Clement Clarke Moore’s poem “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”

I had the pleasure of diving into a captivating new adventure, penned by Bexington. The pages came alive with stunning illustrations, skillfully crafted by Kate Hindley. Macmillan graciously brought this masterpiece to us.

The team responsible for writing and directing has been formed, with Peter Baynton announced as the director. He gained recognition for his direction of the 2022 Oscar-winning short film, “The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse.” Meanwhile, Sara Daddy will write the script using an unconventional approach – the entire screenplay is crafted in rhyming couplets.

As a gamer, I’m excited to share that Guy Chambers and Amy Wadge will be creating the music and songs for this game, as Variety announced. In the thrilling world of “The Night Before Christmas in Wonderland,” I’ll embark on an adventure where even Saint Nick gets lost down the rabbit hole!

Lupus Films and Universal Pictures Content Group have collaborated before on film projects based on beloved books. One such example is “Mog’s Christmas,” a 2017 TV movie where young Mog feels overlooked during the holiday season by her family and takes refuge on the roof, unwilling to come down.

An alternative version of a collaborative book project is the 2019 television film “The Tiger Who Came to Tea,” where a little girl makes an unexpected friend in a tiger and asks him to join her for a cup of tea.

At the 2020 British Animation Awards, the production received nominations for Best Voice Performance (by Clara Ross) and Long Form. Additionally, it earned nominations from the 2021 Annie Awards for Outstanding Music Achievement in an Animated Television or Media Production, as well as a nod for Best Animated Short at the 2020 British Animation Film Festival.

At the Animayo International Film Festival of Animation, Visual Effects, and Video Games in 2020, it was awarded the Jury Prize for the best 2D short film. Additionally, it won the Grand Prix for the Best Animated Short at the Encounters International Film Festival in the same year.

Ruth Fielding and Camilla Deakin are the two heads of production at Lupus Films. Fielding looks forward to working on their new project titled “The Night Before Christmas in Wonderland.”

According to Varity’s article, Fielding shared her excitement about collaborating with this talented team and adding Lupus Films’ enchanting animation to the project. The result is a delightful blend of quirky characters, well-known voices, and catchy songs that promises to create a heartwarming holiday tale for everyone to enjoy.

In the production process, Universal Pictures Content Group Executive Vice President Helen Parker is also mentioned as a producer. She collaborates with Butler, Siegel from G-BASE, and Clarke from Magical Thinking Pictures.

Parker similarly expresses Fielding’s excitement, stating that “Bringing this unique, cheerful tale to fruition has been an enchanting voyage for me. I’ve enjoyed designing the worlds of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘The Night Before Christmas.’ Furthermore, assembling our exceptional cast to give voice to these cherished storybook characters has been a genuinely inventive and heartwarming process.”

As a gamer, I’m excited about the prospect of Lupus Films and Universal Pictures Content Group teaming up again to create something amazing. With their past successes earning critical acclaim and numerous awards and nominations, it feels like we’re in for another win. Together, they’ll be bringing a fresh, family-friendly cinematic experience that’s sure to leave audiences worldwide feeling entertained and uplifted.
