The Night Agent season 2 release month might have just leaked on Instagram

As a dedicated fan of gripping suspense-thrillers like The Night Agent, I can’t help but feel my heart race at the prospect of its return in 2024! After the unexpected twists and turns from season 1, I’ve been on pins and needles waiting for news about the next installment. The recent hints dropped by the show’s Instagram page and actor Michael Malarkey have me feeling like a detective piecing together clues – it seems that production may be wrapping up and a release could be imminent!

Since the thrilling debut of “The Night Agent” on Netflix in March 2023, the popular Netflix original series has experienced an up-and-down journey towards season 2. The show was swiftly renewed just five days following its premiere, and it was initially announced that season 2 would air in 2024. However, delays due to the aftermath of certain events pushed the release back to 2025. Recently, there are indications that a 2024 release might be revived again.

On September 2nd, The Night Agent’s Instagram account posted a fan-made video starring Gabriel Basso as Peter Sutherland, accompanied by Mariah Carey’s popular song “Obsessed”. A viewer asked if season 2 was coming up soon, to which the admin replied that it might be released in November. That’s only two months from now!

It appears there’s speculation about The Night Agent potentially airing its second season in 2024 instead of later in 2025. Actor Michael Malarkey, who will be joining the cast as a new character named Markus, hinted on his Instagram story that the show’s post-production had wrapped up and that season 2 is coming soon. The official show Instagram page also reposted this announcement on its own story.

The Night Agent could be back in 2024 after all

If the disputes are settled prior to December 31, 2024, The Night Agent seemed poised to be one of the rare series that wouldn’t experience additional hold-ups and would resume production in early 2024. The filming for the next season was wrapped up in June 2024, setting the stage for a release by year-end; however, during his latest financial conference call, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos did not include the show among the anticipated originals slated for 2024.

In the wake of the strikes, release patterns have been touch-and-go, with some shows returning in full and others dropping in batches to make up for the decrease in content. Most recently, Netflix released Bridgerton season 3 and Emily in Paris season 4 in two parts, and this fall, Outer Banks season 4 will follow suit with its own two-part release.

It’s good news that “The Lincoln Lawyer” season 3 managed to steer clear of a second two-part drop in October, but since Netflix hasn’t confirmed anything yet, we don’t know what lies ahead for “The Night Agent” season 2. If the show does air in November 2024, it’s likely that all episodes will be released simultaneously instead of being divided into two parts.

Provided that The Night Agent season 2 wraps up post-production as indicated on Instagram, Netflix has ample space for its November 2024 schedule. At present, there’s no series scheduled for release on November 21, which positions the show perfectly to capitalize on the Thanksgiving holiday week that follows. We’ll just have to wait and find out if Peter will make a successful comeback or not.
